Did you record into the force then trigger the scenes though that. Would be interesting to know.
@boedye4 ай бұрын
In this case I did not, however it is capable of that. In this, I'm using the force for the drum beat (which the preloads are really, really nice...) and sending a gate signal to clock the stillson-hammer. In another few days, I will be using a Tascam Model 12 to out each of my voices into their one tracks, and then recording them onto the Force, and then eventually seeing if I can sample and mangle them as you would using an Octatrack.

Is that an Intellijel Atlantis in the corner doing the sequencing, or is that a Harvestman/IME module? Pad is a mellow cloud! (🙃)
@boedye4 ай бұрын
That is my faithful Stillson Hammer by IME! I had the Metropolis for a bit (The Atlantis is the SH101 Clone, the Metropolis is the sequencer)! 3 Pittsburgh Modular Primary Oscillators into a G-Storm Tonus VCF (Arp 2600 Filter Clone), Pittsburgh LPG, Then Monsoon!
@HeavyDutyModularSynths6 ай бұрын
man what oscillator is that weird sequencer on top left controlling ? its pretty awesome. is it ran through chorus or something ?
@boedye6 ай бұрын
To walk you through: The Sequencer on the top left is a 4 channel sequencer called the Stillson-Hammer. It's been out of production for a while, but you can find them easily enough. The Stillson is sequencing and clocking everything in the rack (Drums are from a Syntakt, clocking an Erica Synths Midi to CV / Gate Module in a Pod Enclosure and clocking the Stillson). The heavy bass / distortion bit (which gets a bit muddy). Is just the Verbos Foundation Oscillator filtered with a Doepfer 303 type filter, going through the Retro Mechanical Distortion. The sounds that you are hearing, immediately when I hit play, are coming entirely from the Hex Inverter / Erica Synths Mindphaser which is going into an Erica Synths LPG and a XAOC Devices Belgrad (I typically keep it on the Notch / Lowpass setting, but it's not coloring the sound much in this patch). Otherwise that is all Mindphaser. What I think you might be referring to is the "through-zero phase modulation bus", being modulated and with the Verbos Multistage on the bottom left. Oh, and outputting all that through a Verbos Multitap Delay / Reverb. But again... not an overwhelming amount.

Cognitive functions. For men, we generally go from "room to room", and the hallway (so to speak) is just a means to an end. Because we are generally compartmentalized and focused on the directive finding ourselves in that space in between rooms, that aimless lost place is a pretty not so great place to be.

@boedye Жыл бұрын
Its not so much a secret anymore! It's loads of fun, along with loads of frustration at times! Nowadays you can get into it with minimal investment. When I got started it was at the height of popularity. Pittsburgh Mod stuff is pretty cheap, as are Erica Synths, and a lot of previous models of things (such as Rene or Metropolis), are quite capable and far less expensive! Synthrotek also makes some pretty cheap power supplies, if you want to go DIY! Also Behringer makes some really cheap clones of just about everyone, but their modules sound pretty great!

Nice groove 👍🏻How do you like the Starlab overall?
@boedye Жыл бұрын
So far so good. Previously I had the ZDSP, mainly for the Halls of Valhalla DSP card. I can get the equivalent if not superior reverb out of this, the difference is there is way more control than the ZDSP. I like that there is no menu diving, and its pretty well laid out. So far I have not come across anything off putting, and I have yet to actually read the manual, which shows its ease of use. I would not compare it to the Magneto, as they are very different beasts.
