Which device is connected to the computer via USB? Was it the Digiface or the 12D? Does the digiface allow you to not have Dante Via or Dante Virtual Soundcard?

Thank you for this really helpful video. The only negative is that like so many other videos, the background “music” is very annoying, distracting and serves no purpose.

Hi, I would like to use your last RME HDSPE AIO PRO to plug in my guitar there for live performances. Has that card a High Z input for guitar?, may I buy some kind of cable jack or the card comes with the female jack for my guitar wire? Thx.

I know this video is old but id like to get a ferrofish but how do you deal with sending cv in to the box? I know there is outputs so you can send cv out but how do deal with sending it in? I use expert sleepers but would love to get rid of those if you have a solution for sending cv in?

You put so much effort in to building both racks that you didn’t buy a label maker 🤦♂️ But that is the beauty of building your own custom rack is that it is Custom. But ay you do you :)

how did you setup QoS DSCP levels for the dante network switches, or does ubiquity not even support hardware QoS...?

First off, awesome presentation, very nice gear. But why Dante vs. an already available AVB, or MADI ? Does MIDAS not do AVB? I like the 24 mic's cause every things out the front, I can troubleshoot without leaving my chair. I have a similar rig, UFX II has 12 outs 12 ins and a 12 mic, but I'm doing monitor mix and front of house for live shows. I use totalmix remote on an I-pad, I keep all the ethercon crap out of the cabinet, it was too difficult to isolate the noise. Cool to have a battery, if everything is acoustic, life goes on. Not a rig for hot weather, packed very tight. I use the USB ethernet to the 12 mic, no need for a router. And now I added an Enttec USB to control a DMX lighting bus. I play guitar and sing also. but everything is set before a show, I just connect everything, and load the file from last performance. Lighting scenes are controlled via Ableton Live and a midi foot switch. The monitor mix sound quality is jaw dropping. Why people use wedges I don't know. Impressive. May I ask a question. I see a lot of equipment inside the rack, including in the bottom drawer. What about air circulation and heat dissipation? Isn't there a bit of heat build-up, I can't see any fans. I have UFX III, 12Mic and Octamic in a 23 cm deep rack, but I use a 4 RU rack so that the air can still circulate a little. Many thanks.

While thats a brilliant setup, it seems like an awful lot of tech, to accomplish a fairly simple recording/monitoring task. Thats gotta be well over $10k in gear to record and monitor a 4 piece group live. Either way, you thought of everything man its very impressive and i admit you can accomplish much more than a 4 piece group with that rig.

IMHO Sounds like crap, nothing like a Hammond. Thin tinny sound. Leslie effect terrible. Percussion is a joke.

This is actually incorrect setup - everything should be set to bell curve, otherwise the final curve looks very funky and different than in Sonarworks. I was just going through it manually. Also no explanation on what to do with the fact that you are mapping 8 channels from Sonarworks' to 9. Please do enable the integration directly or make a better tutorial. This is quite a bit of work and not very clear.

Is it really correct to leave the lowest band in shelving mode? Changing between bell and shelving has a huge impact on the sound.

The video states that RME Room EQ support from Sonarworks will come "Spring 2024". I think that's really great! Is there any news on this?

I truly hope I'm wrong but it seems that if a person has an Apple silicon machine then you are going to have to install the DriverKit. Unfortunately installing the drivers from DK means the money you just dropped on your new RME interface, in my case over $1,700, is being spent on a product that will be have less performance and robustness. I messaged RME before buying this and asked if they are any issues with Apple silicon and they said no. If you are reading this tell me what you think? If you spend a bunch of money on a piece of gear only to find out that because it's USB connected that it's no longer going to be supported or if you want you can run it but the performance is not going to be what was advertised.

can i also use it without an iPad / computer connected - in full standalone mode? like just having my inputs amplified coming out of the set of speakers connected to the outputs, pro fs running on dc power

Sure, you can connect the 12mic to the first gen UFX via 2x ADAT cables.

This is the authoritative and official TotalMix walkthrough. Thank you. Barry John's is cool and all but he overcomplicates the mental model by telling people to think top down. I corrected it by saying what was done here by understanding that the bottom row on click/select shows what is going on above. Think bottom up to keep your sanity.

What is causing the random audio distorted repeat glitches? I hope it's not the RME interface you are reviewing! I've had those glitches on Sound blaster cards but not very often.
