You know, I totally understand why Soldier Boy wants to kill both Homelander and Ryan himself. Because knowing Ryan chose Homelander, there is no way the cycle of trauma and anger will never end. There must've been a little acknowledgement that his line is entirely screwed up, with Homelander being way too messed up in the head and he just randomly pulled the "meet your grandson" card. His bloodline is cursed to continue that cycle, so might as well just end it.

He's not a villain, he didn't betray, went back on his word, or hurt anyone innocent on purpose - he did mistreat his former team mates which are all homicidal, cry me a river. He's not a comic book hero either.

Soldier boy was literally the only hero in the series. And the season finale was almost the same dissapointment as final of GoT. I almost don't want 4 season, almost. I still have hope that they fix it or something, because the finale of season 3 was so bad it's actually insane that somehow making 3 great seasons they can destroy everything they did in one episode.

If only he never hit the kid.

I'm extremely embarassed to say that I've forgotten the entire murder mystery plot(and even the names of the characters). But one thing I can say is that I found the series when I was having a constant battle with myself about the meaning of life. Often falling into cynical conclusions, but I realized that I still had a spark of liveliness and color in me while watching the series and finding myself disagreeing with Matthew's character on a lot of topics. Then I became more and more hopeful with each episode. I was worried that Matthew's character would never see the light at the end of the tunnel but was delighted when he did at the very end. I cried rivers! I'll have to watch it again. This time paying more attention.

Took me 10 years to finally watch this 1st season and I was left completely stunned. Unbelievably gripping and chilling.

I just watched the first season. It was good, but it wasn't THAT good.

i think soldier boy is a new thing. in my subjective perspective, i have never seen a “anti-villain” he is definelty not a hero, not a monster or not a main villain. maybe he is not even a real soldier. but he is a real man, at least he is trying to be a real man. he did his job, follow orders. he is a bad guy who he thinks he is right.

You keep mentioning pessimism but the belief that nothing matters is nihilism. Pessimism is the belief that everything will result badly as opposed to it going well.

To be totally honest, you really scared me talking about being able to root for him because there's nothing to root for. What is there to root for other than feeling bad about someone having something done wrong to them and feeling like they should be able to do something wrong back to others which that isn't right. The only person there to root for is a mother milk, cause he's the only one who is even slightly justifiable in his actions. But he's the only person in entire show that takes accountability for his actions. soldier boy is juat a evil cap. Too tied up in all the trauma of his past.That was probably done to him by his father.Which is similar to the trauma that's done to billy and homelander.

I think it's less about sticking to his word. I think it's more about him not being able Deal with The trauma that he holds from his pass. It's shown by everybody. Damn all of them have very abusive back stroy. Which ultimately plays into how all of them act.

Absolutely love this show. However I’m not a fan of how aggressively and consistently sexual it is, I think that’s kinda weird lol. Not to mention how hard they SHOVE their political propaganda in your face. That shit was so bad it completely ruined season 2. Hope it doesn’t affect the 4th season.

Likability, Humanity? I wouldn't use those words to describe soldier boy. Honestly, I would say the total opposite. The reason why he is such a good villain Is damn near the reason why all the characters in this show aren't good. All the characters are justifiably angry at the people They are against. So I don't really even see them as villains. They're all all our victims to the company that perpetuates their problems. Even though some of them could just destroy the place all together. What's powerful than even superpowers but public perspective. The thing none of them can touch, kill, Intimidate or bargain with. You can do those thinv with certain people From the company , but someone will always use the company for whatever they want.

3rd season is goated just for having soldier boy in it

Kind of sick of the soldier boy wank off session that the internet is having. He is not the first of his kind nor is he even that unique compared to other anti hero’s. Hell, the punisher is very similar and he’s been around for decades. He was interesting, he was funny and charming, but he didn’t “change” anything.

Daredevil was always my favorite hero and when I saw the show I was so hype and I still think its the best marvel show and one of the best live action superhero show and the way the actors portrayed Daredevil and the kingpin I think its the best version I ever seen

The show never showed him being a villain. It showed him being a d*ck. It said he was a villain. But never showed it. Which anger me cuz at the end when they chose Homelander over Solider Boy. Why?!!! Maybe the next season with shed some light

I’m gonna push back on BRB a little. The siblings only show up at certain hp%s, and Eldest is supposed to cycle his aggro so you don’t get completely mobbed all at once. Granted, their ai used to be a *lot* worse before patch 1.01, and summoning a specter would screw it up even more. It’s fine if you think the fight isn’t great, but the community consensus seems to be that it’s probably the best example of a gank fight a soulslike has had so far, and I think it would’ve been a good mention that so you could contrast your experience with it.

I can't help but feel sorry for Garth Ennis. Everyone keeps praising stuff based on his work, but everyone keeps putting down his actual work.

People confuse strict with evil. His original team was a bunch of shitty people who misused their powers which led to a lot of deaths (black noir for instants). And he beat the shit out of them in combat training to keep them in line or else they would run amok, like what we see with the Seven. He respected people and kept his word. He probably didn't even kill MM's family. I think the show is just framing to be bad and it will be revealed later that he is not.
