Yeesh! In America this guy would have been cuffed and sitting in the back of cruiser already. Simply for obstructing justice and being an asshole. And he doesn't even know American law let alone British law. Keeps asking about the charges? Newsflash! Police officers don't actually charge people or lay charges, no matter the country. That's the job of a prosecutor. The grounds? You're being detained because you're an asshole and not cooperating with our investigation, LOL

Ryan, I am sitting here with my sister, visiting from Germany, and we are blatantly blown away by your post. I have a few for you. Worked in Germany as a flight attendant for LH and had these encounters; On a late flight to Stuttgart, the travel agent flying with a group of elderly American ladies asked me, 'Will the Black Forest still be open when we arrive? Or an American woman telling me of her visit to Heidelberg Castle on the return flight to NY. 'It was beautiful, just a shame they built it so close to the Autobahn". It would be funny, if it isn't so sad. Thank you for your posts, I always enjoy them.

In Australia most of us (not all of us, but most) if there is an ambulance behind us we switch to the other lane, but if there is traffic and the opposite side of the road is empty the ambulance will drive on the wrong side of the road.

It’s so sweet you didn’t realise the American asking why white people were working in the cafeteria was being racist as they probably expect from their own experience ‘foreigners’ like those from Latin America, Asia or even black Americans to be working those jobs and they probably assume those lowly jobs shouldn’t be done by your own race. Though I would say there are many other countries like that, it’s not just America. Often in many Arab countries (i know this as a Jordanian) those who are maids or who often serve people are usually from other non Arab countries.

The official dressed in the brightly coloured uniform at the end of the video is Garter (Principal) King of Arms who is in charge of heraldry, pageantry and ceremonial in the UK (except Scotland) and in the other Commonwealth Realms (except Canada). He makes the principal proclamations on behalf of or in reference to the King and is in charge of the College of Arms which deals with coats of arms, orders of chivalry and things associated with inherited titles and nobility, genealogy etc. The post began 1415. He is assisted by other kings of arms, heralds and pursuivants, who appear in similar garb. The kings of arms are the only individuals allowed to wear a crown (at the Coronation) other than the King and Queen. He is also the supreme officer of the Order of the Garter, the highest order of chivalry.

if you could pick the order in which you do the countries im sure it would be easier, like a skip function where you can go back to the ones you are not sure about. Its obviously easier to do the map of your own "area" like i would be able to do 100% on this test, but i just did a similar one on american states and got 48%, now of course theres a difference between countries and states, in south america i could probably score 80% or better, africa/asia/central+north america like 60-70% (those are my own estimates without having tried, i also believe i would get atleast 60% on US states if i could skip the ones im uncertain on) it has a big impact what order the countries/states come in on this sort of test

Don't get upset it is not only the Colonials who drop great gaffes. That leave us in Brits dumbfounded. The best one I ever had, was by another Brit, My colleague was from Newcastle and hss a soft geordie accent. She was trying to understand someone with another English accent despite my friends patience while she was trying to book her in. My colleague totally gave up when the client stated I am speaking English! I was more surprised when I tried to explain thet my colleague came from the North East and spoke with a different accent to us in Yorkshire. The client just didn't get it!

With that amount of installations it's not that big of an impropriety any more that Putin goes crazy. I mean, yes, he's a dictator and a criminal, but let's be honest: what war crime or violation of international law did he commit that the US didn't in its glorious past? And even more alarming is that the US gov doesn't even keep track of their military, which means it can do what it wants. I saw a documentary about Americans protesting against having a NATO base with the NATO flag and not the american flag flying in their country. How lost can you be? In return I'd like to have all american flags banned in german US bases. Same right for all. It makes me sick everytime police is blocking the whole traffic for another convoy of armored US vehicles with hanging out yougsters playing cool. And the sadest thing about it is: american soldiers get heavily injured by things like a not secured tank hatch while just driving around on public roads in peaceful Germany. I never heared that from german soldiers. Sometimes it feels like they are really like kids playing with dangerous things they have no clue of. Did I mention that the cases of armed violence (knives) in german clubs around US bases is significantly higher than elsewhere? Normally there is no "armed" at all. I know that many Germans like to have them because the bases brought jobs for decades, but like the politicians they don't have to deal with them in their freetime. I also know that there is surely some nice and professional personel, but like always it just needs some idiots from Private to President to mess up the whole thing. From my pov nor the soldiers' neither the government's behaviour makes me welcome any US troops. I want them to leave. This all makes me upset. Sorry Ryan, you'd be welcome :) Oh and the US surely did NOT write Germany's constituition. The Grundgesetz was written by a german parliamentary council.

I think Belgium, or at least Flanders, is the country the most densely covered with speeding (and red crossing) cameras in the world. Before the 1990s we already had anonymous cars equipped with radars parked near the roads. Preferably hiding behind signs, bushes and other obstacles. Then from the 1990s the immobile camera poles were installed. Often near traffic lights so they could score twice, for speed and red light crossing. Still using the anonymous cars too, a whole fleet. Brussels uses a "hybrid" a mobile speed camera that looks as a large dustbin. The latest trick though are the average speed zones. One camera registers when you enter, another one when you leave then calculates your average speed. Too high = ticket.

Kind of make sense, sharing the cost together makes it cheaper when divided between each individuals. And helping each other makes each other stronger. USA has it wrong, they want to dominate their own brother thinking that will lift up the country. So many homeless people living in the streets in USA, soo sad.

500€ of speeding tickets in Germany. Holy cow, in Switzerland that would probably be around 20000$. 500€ is a lot. I got a ticket for driving 65 in a village (15 km/h over the limit) because I didn’t realise that I was in one because it was night, and it cost me 20€. To get 500€ you have to really mess it up. In Switzerland they would probably have her right to drive revoked for the rest of the stay.🤣

Boroughs are basically subdivisions of counties, though not all counties are subdivided into boroughs (those that aren't are called 'unitary'). Those types of authorities are increasing due to Government wanting to streamline costs, but traditionally there would be a borough council for the district (borough), which was subordinate to the county council for the whole county.

16:12 Oh but they will. Most likely as an American you will be driving a rental. That company will have your full details which they will gladly disclose to the authorities (or they have to pay the fine themselves). Probably those authorities will then send you a nice letter asking you to pay. Maybe they won't bother enforcing you to do so but on the other hand there may be an agreement between countries to enforce the law. And even if they don't make you pay you could run into an unpleasant surprise the next time you visit that country. Country could also mean the whole EU.

The US military base in the city I live in was closed over 10 years ago. The village is now mostly used to house refugees. We also have an old airfield which is currently used for cultural events and sport events. They are still trying to figure out what to use it for long term.

I live in one of the highest rated tourist destinations in the world and if I have to be honest when we go out and we hear an American accent, we collectively sigh. See stupid people are all over the world unfortunately, what makes Americans different is the fact that the stupidity comes with a side of obnoxiousness, conviction and volume. And the best part, it's usually about the fact that they think something they read on social media somewhere trumps a native who specializes in the subject matter and has the education and experience to back it up or because (wait for it) "that's not how it works in America" "that's not what we do in the US". Not going to lie sometimes there is comedic value in these interactions but for the most part... well there are 700 000 videos on YT just like this one so you do the math....

My daughter's American friend from Iowa, came to the UK for six months a few years back. In the months before his stay, we all chatted for hours over video chats, us telling him things he should expect to see here. We also told him the dos and don'ts of living here too. We told him that in general, our police don't carry firearms, but they do carry tasers, sprays, etc. When he arrived at Heathrow, he commented on the fact that, for a country that is famous for their police not to carry firearms, when we do, we REALLY do! He said that he was really shocked to see not only armed police at the airport but instead of just having a side arm, as cop do in the US, we had semi automatics! And that when we do armed police, we don't do it half! Tourists do seem to forget that these fancy dressed guards are active soldiers. Don't let their uniforms fool you, they're trained to protect this country the same as anyone else's soldiers. And as for that kid, would he have shown the same disrespect for the US soldiers guarding the grave of the Unknown Soldier, too? Or the Swiss Guards at the Vatican? If not, why not? They're all soldiers doing their duty, whether they're here, there, or wherever, and need to be respected.

I know you don’t read your comments (please prove me wrong by liking my comment). I was brought up surrounded by US bases. I had American neighbours multiple times.. I met a lot of Americans people, some kids, some adults. One of them was so generous she gave me formula for my baby when we were snowed into the village. It’s sad that one of those bases closed down. I have spent many a night at US night clubs. I have known quite a few American people and they were all lovely people.
