This made me feel a bit sad as I haven't seen a house martin for ages, but I used to love seeing them in the 1970s and 80s when I lived in Canterbury and they were always flying above the streets. After reading Tony Soper's Bird Table Book in the late 70s, I followed his instructions for making a fake nest using polyfilla, a kid's football, and some brown poster paint. When it had dried out, I stretched out of the bedroom window and attached it to the wall under the eaves. The birds ignored it that year, but next spring it was occupied by a pair of house martins and in subsequent years they built their own nest next door too. Unfortunately, like so many bird species they're much rarer these days.

Thanks Liam, lovely little birds. Might have seen a couple of them by the river this lunchtime, not sure but definitely seen a few swallows fly over my house yesterday.

@@AShotOfWildlife Swallows video link worked OK for me (using a laptop). Although when I was watching it, KZfaq started suggesting more videos from various American channels showing people how to STOP swallows from building nests!🙃

Hey! I just found your channel doing research for my own. I'd like to partner with you as the American counterpart to showcase native wildlife over here. I'd love to figure out a way to help each other grow

I love coots but feeding them is very difficult because geese are greedy and bully them. They definitely don’t live in easy conditions being so small living among giant bullies.

I hunt squirrels in my home state of Arkansas, and they are not to be underestimated. More people used to eat them here but small game hunting has declined a lot over the past few decades.

Animals such as this are more proof than ever that we are all the same at our core. This bird has led a rough life, all cause it looks different from its peers. I bet even his parents hated him.

Great video, I was walking my dog in the local park near to where I live when I young roe deer darted out of the bushes right in front of me and the dog, I could have touched it but I reckon it was running about 25 miles a hour, it ran back into the bushes, I have seen this deer now 3 times but that was the closest I've been to it.

Troubling to hear about the decline in EU. That being said They are flourishing here in Canada. They were once a fall and winter bird here in Ontario. Now they are here year round and large numbers.

Aha! so their call explains the name of Professor Yaffle in Bagpuss. He would've been a Green Woodpecker, if only someone had taken the time to paint him.
