... suomisaundi.... is the free thinkers psy, the adventurers , unafraid to get goofy, silly, spugedelic ... a massive well of incredible music that has a strong forcefield... even crazier tracks ,.. nat for the faint of heart... some of the extreme weird bendy sloppy slurpy sounds are too much for me, even and i love it.... people used to the formulaic derivative just add kbbb to squiggles will either be enamored and fascinated by some variety (surprise its been going on for 30 years) and the rest brush it off as silly wonky and absurd... .when in fact, and my opinion,,, not much psytrance really stands a chance when it comes to funk, individuality, expressiveness and variety... .and while the sound design is on par with the best in the world, its overlooked because it is just , too psychedelic for most people. that is the way it goes. sisu!

having aligned them for phase inversion comparison I have used SOUND RADIX's AUTO ALIGN 2 plugin that automatically adjusts the phase relation and it works perfect, much better than any manual adjustments. It finalized the alignment process with the following adjustment numbers (there is some peak to median differences but very few and about 0,1 to 0,2, very neglegible : > APOLLOx DAC - APOLLOx ADC (APOLLO CLOCK) PARADIGM TEST: 0 samples ; > APOLLOx DAC - BURL ADC (BURL CLOCK) PARADIGM TEST: -69 samples ; > SOLARIS DAC - APOLLOx ADC (APOLLO CLOCK) PARADIGM TEST: -16 samples ; (seems to have the BIGGEST difference, read below WHY i think that is) > SOLARIS DAC - APOLLOx ADC (BURL CLOCK) PARADIGM TEST: -16 samples ; > SOLARIS DAC - BURL ADC (BURL CLOCK) PARADIGM TEST: -85 samples. Feel free to nudge these audio files in your DAW and invert the polarity to get the aligned comparison! P.S: I can not understand why the "SOLARIS DAC - APOLLOx ADC (APOLLO CLOCK) PARADIGM TEST" has such a great difference when inverted vs any other audio tracks. like maybe there had been an error while making these audio prints, IDK, but the stereo ambiance is so much different compared against any other audio track from these! P.S 2: Okay it seems like the stereo had been inverted ior the cables have been plugged invertedly R/L instead of L/R for that 3rd track!

@@RapidFlow_Shop I also use the method of record-printing in ProTools and the ‘delay compensation’ on a smaller buffer indeed places the audio correctly, even though when played back ‘through the loopback wiring’ before recording - sounds like a doubled signal. You could create a new session with cleanly bounced audio just for mastering purposes so that the computer uses no processing, therefore having no initial latency issues. It would work just fine. Keep the compensation on for the next task/test. Do you know if UA’s 8XP has better converters vs the regular X8/X6? I am hoping for your FOLLOWUP video based on these samplecompensated files because quite frankly Id love to learn your opinion on those converters and external clocking. I understand that BURL guves the thickest signal whether clocked or not, but lets hear your opinion 💯❤️

Hopefully you won’t take this personally. As a Waldorf Iridium owner and other synths throughout the years, I long for different sounds. When you started this video, with to me is the King of all synths…. Why would you play THEEEEE SAME SOUND everybody on earth plays on “regular” synths? Do we fear change today? “Let me see if I can get this DX7 sound going in 2024 with this 6k synth the Gods made!” You didn’t say that but why haven’t we moved on to a new form of music with all this power? Any opinion on this?

I tried the insert thing, didn't work for me... I always get timing inconsistances when going out to hardware separately. Obviously I can take the entire mix out on 2bus and use the hardware that way....... But using individual comps like this would create timing issues.... No idea what doing wrong.... I adust the sample rates etc. Many seem to be able to do this... wish I could. How are you able to keep everything in sync ?
@RapidFlow_Shop
@RapidFlow_Shop 6 күн бұрын
I set the delay to samples and tweak it till it sounds like phasing. Then it s within a few MS. If needed I compare the newly recorded file with the original. Sometimes I ll do a test recording to see the transient is on the same part of the grid. The MS latency on the insert plugin is the solution. Good luck

Something a lot of people forget to setup properly is the recording latency compensation. Each interface has its own latency and mostly it’s auto corrected by the daw software. Always set it up manually because the auto settings are not always spot on. 1-Have an audio track with a click, note not a midi or instrument track but actual audio. 2-Route that track to a physical line output. 3-Create a new track and record that click output, one measure is enough. 4-Set you time to samples and zoom in on a click and select the space between the two and see how much samples they differ. 5-Manually put in the latency settings in your daw. 6-Record again and check if the recording matches up to the original. Adjust until perfect. Note that if you change sample rates or bit rates you have to adjust the latency compensation again.

Do you still use the Push? I am struggling, from a ergonomic point of view, with using the Push as my main controller. As good as it is while creating... for mixing it does not work that much well. Having not enough space to own SSL's controller while keeping the Push, I wonder... should I simply plug it and unplug it on demand.... but as you know, to plug then unplug sometime simply ruins the flow. What about you?

I dont think you are exploring HOW we've moved but just show somehow THAT we've moved towards the sound of same same and hardly different. But maybe thats something you leave to the comment section :) To continue; i dont get why you show this graph. Suppose psytrance would have stayed as diverse as it was, do you think psytrance would be more popular now? The biggest commercial EDM festivals have over 400 k visitors, the styles played there score high on the chart and are imo much narrower in predominant style. These kind of charts are about the big numbers, not about small parties here and there. If there is a correlation, i would expect it to in reverse. So psytrance is still to popular..:) I agree that more diversity in psytrance would be welcome, good point you make. My only critic about your video is that you dont't show us your track of diverse psytrance that is high quality. Otherwise this is just a variation on the usual : psytrance is dead topic. That is not very diverse.

I am very new to production and I know this video alone is well outside of my knowledge-- so apologies if this question doesn't even make sense: I recently purchased the Source as the interface I own (RME Babyface Pro) is far too hot for my speakers and does not have a physical knob for attenuation, and I wanted to protect my ears/monitors in case the digital level was ever reset by accident. I am now trying to understand the other aspects of this device and I am a bit confused. Should I be routing my DAW output to the Source directly over USB and then to my monitors, or routing to my interface over USB, then to the Source (with what connection?) and finally the monitors? If I need to go from my interface first before the source for best quality, I don't know if I can do SPDIF into the Source as my interface only has Optical or XLR output. Lastly, is there any difference in routing for best quality vs lowest latency? Thank you in advance for the help, my head is spinning a bit trying to understand this 😅
@RapidFlow_Shop
@RapidFlow_Shop 7 күн бұрын
Hey no worries, happy to help. Unfirtunately your RME does not a digital out expcept the optical one which the Source doesn't accept. How I would hook this up: 1. Use the RME as your converter from your DAW 2. Hook up the source USB to use as your converter from your computer for normal audio (KZfaq, Spotify etc.) 3. Connect your XLR outputs of the RME to the XLR inputs of the source 4. Connect the Source XLR ouputs to your speakers. 5. You could experiment with a converter box to turn the optical digital out of the RME into a SPDIF coaxial signal that the Source can accept. I am 99% sure this will improve audio quality. You could try this inexpensive converter. Just make sure the optical out on the RME is set to 2 channel Toslink, NOT ADAT: www.amazon.com/Optical-Converter-Bi-Directional-Repeater-ROOFULL/dp/B01N32C5GT/ref=sr_1_4?crid=2AVEQFRVWW4WA&dib=eyJ2IjoiMSJ9.xF0YbCI4BsJI7EgCGhXhfUOMRijh9MenB2JKicDdvX4x-g2pPpgz8uGycK2VTHLlrXrWcryOwepS2edV5z7B3mvps7oa5vU5q2kiqj08odTfcrtnkHVe09bY0DSQeAg9GCuToEse9zcU16npn42_NLNt9JKxehWi2p8IHbYMEwte_HEX0_dkZer4tdubgteCSClyoi0r4l5hYa106RLmE9Gt7zB-hr0yGXDpCbTaJ3c.zcnSjv2UnWZ2exFO3nd-Qcyrdo3waRG6_Mf3y7T2S8o&dib_tag=se&keywords=Tendak%2BOptisk%2BSPDIF%2BToslink%2Btill%2Bkoaxial%2Beller%2Bkoaxial%2Btill%2Boptisk%2BSPDIF%2BToslink%2Bdigital&qid=1723008148&sprefix=tendak%2Boptisk%2Bspdif%2Btoslink%2Btill%2Bkoaxial%2Beller%2Bkoaxial%2Btill%2Boptisk%2Bspdif%2Btoslink%2Bdigital%2B%2Caps%2C397&sr=8-4&th=1 Good uck with it, if you get stuck just write me on the chat button of my store rapidflow.shop and I'll walk you through it.

@@RapidFlow_Shop Thank you for the incredibly thorough response! I will be trying out some of this soon. One last thing that I just want to make sure I understand-- Up until now I have been selecting the Source as my output in my DAW and using the USB connection to it to output to the monitors. Is this method inferior in any way (quality or latency) to using the RME as my converter or one of the other Source methods like the SPDIF converter? Thank you again, this is beyond helpful for peace of mind as I don't have the ears/room to know if I am getting the quality I purchased haha

Hello! I have to say from my side is many years that psytrance is less interesting it’s about 5 years minimum for me…became a empty product like many other style of music, is missing the psychedelic and the soul… but fortunately there is still who want to keep up the vibe, not so many artists but still there is… nice video, anyway I was speaking with many friends about how much less interesting became psytrance in the last years…a lot of new artists but the music is the copy of the copy of what we listened 10 years ago…

are you actually listening to psytrance these days? the scene is amazing and there is always new genres and people spending time to add their touch in it. if you speak only about goa trance maybe you're right, but man look at the psytechno scene, even forest/darkpsy is still buzzing and evolving. there are productions patterns in goa trance as well as in any other psychedelic genres, you're just talking about taste. the tracks you showed in the video sounds wrongly mixed to me, with a chaotic sound design and arrangement, nothing to do with production level nowadays. just go deeper than astrix or tristan and you'll find way more special tunes and genres than few years ago

It's always the same everywhere, old people complain that everything used to be better. Everything is fine with psytrance, it just doesn't correspond to your listening habits... it's like when old Metallica fans can't cope with the fact that they no longer sound like on Master of Puppets... you immediately find others who agree with you and that's how it is Here too, there are still plenty of artists/musicians/producers who don't follow the mainstream, but you have to make the effort to find them, you won't find them in the first 50 search results on KZfaq...or even not on KZfaq at all , once you didn't find your oldies there either, did you? ;) and I would probably make more friends with my answer , if I would agree with you...

Have u been living under a Rock ??? The reason why there is so much music that sounds the same is because these artists have been making careers in teaching ppl. I have even seen artists selling templates of their tracks ... this music is the fast growing in terms of evolution and to this day keeps the evolution going that explains the amount of sub genres that exist of psytrance...from the high frequency based goa trance to the low frequency based psycore there is a massive amount of different sub genres with all sorts of bpm... so if artists are spreading their knowledge and creating armies of mini "me's" the amount of music that sounds the same is inevitable
