Been using Amsoil SS oil in my 12 mustang gt mt-82 (amsoil synchromesh 5w-30 fluid) since she had 213 miles. Started with 5-30 weight ss for 1st change @ 200 or so miles. Then used the 5-30 for around 32K-38K miles....which included about 15 to 40 full pulls up to/past 145mph @ 6700rpm with rev limiter bitchin....😳 . Engines with wetbelt need regular oil changes and the correct oil. It needs the exact recommended oil by Ford, it has an additive in it that prevents it from eating the belt (also, ethanol loves eating rubber belts, for example when ethanol from the fuel gets into the oil via the piston rings). If the engine is not getting regular oil changes and not the correct oil, the oil will eat the belt. If the correct engine oil is used and regular oil changes are performed the belt will last untill service requires it to be changed. Gates (the belt manufacturer for Stellantis 1.2 liter 3-cyl wetbelt engines in Europe) gave a webinar about a year ago and showcased an engine that used the right oil and short oil service intervals and it lasted 140.000 miles.
@BeardedFordTech
@BeardedFordTech 19 сағат бұрын
@therickman1990 engines need chains not belts. And in this situation. It's also the tensioner failing causing the belt to rub the cover. It's not just the oil. What about all the ones who change it every 3k and use the oil from the dealer? They still fail. Yes all that is true with ethanol but it really needs a chain

@patrickwarden2933 yes we established the mph. 12k is max according to the results for my truck and how I drive. Cause it's considered severe duty (turbocharged) 20k for normal service. If you don't have auto start stop and are stuck in traffic and aren't moving. Shut it off. It's not going to hurt anything. Don't let it sit there running while you go into a store. I switched the PentaStar engines in our family to Signature series and they actually did better on the Amsoil XL... It's why data from a lab is so crucial making the decision. It wasn't night and day difference, but small differences in the wear metals so I decided on the XL instead of the Signature Series in those applications. The oldest PentaStar in the family is a 2012, with 300K on it. Oh and original oil cooler generation 1 design. Still not leaking. So that is why I'm a big thinker that it's people over tightening these that cause them to leak. Yes, some fail on their own, but the majority are caused by their owners or Jiffy-Boob technicians cranking the piss out of them.
@BeardedFordTech
@BeardedFordTech 2 күн бұрын
No they actually leak from under them. The seals blow out. Not from around the seal where the filter is. Been a huge problem since they did the gen 2. The gen 1 ones were fine.

@@BeardedFordTech Interesting... I guess we got good ones... We had 15 PentaStars in the family. Mainly Caravans. They have produced over 10 million of these engines to date and I guess there is going to be a high failure rate with that many engines and plastic parts / terrible seals. When I'm due for plugs and coolant change I'm going to change mine to the all aluminium one from Dorman and give it a go. I mean if I have the plenum / intake apart to take the lower intake off is not that hard because you don't have to take the injectors out just put it to the side with the fuel rail still attached and I'll have the coolant drained anyway so it's not a big deal to spend some extra time in there so I can button it up for another 100K miles and not have to worry.

Never had to before. Cause you do drive the piss out of it afterwards. And whatever is in there will evaporate like fuel does when oilngets to temp. Usually when I do them it's time for an oil change anyway. Doesn't have to be done. I've done plenty of them without changing oil and testa came back fine. Go look at my second used oil analysis that had the foam run through it about 1300 miles before an oil change. Does it hurt to do it at the same time? Absolutely not. Does it hurt to do it at different times? Not at all. If it did rewlly matter it would tell you to change the oil after. Like engine flush does. Except seafoam engine flush. One thing to keep in mind when you run the Signature Series and do an oil analysis: the oxidation value will be high. High enough it may give you a red flag depending on the lab you send it to. It happened to me, and is totally normal. The group V esters in the Signature Series are naturally high in oxidative value and it does not reflect a bad oil. Need to know the oxidative value at start (low 40’s for signature series) and compare over time.

@brandon9715 I'm going to send a clean sample in too. Last one I saw it was 9-12 oxidation value brand new. Only the test will see

@@BeardedFordTech Just looked up the signature series VOA and UOA I had for my truck in 5w20 and it was an oxidation value of 48 for the VOA and 49 for my UOA with 7,622 miles on it.

@brianmaloney5430 half the protection too. It cost more than what I pay for amsoil. I'm an amsoil dealer

@@brianmaloney5430 Yep, much better value. I cancelled my Amsoil membership, there's just no value in it.

@@BeardedFordTech Yes! I had ultra platinum sheering in my 3.5L F-150 at 2400 miles. It had sheered down from 30 to 20 within that time period. As you stated earlier in your comments, turbo or induction based motors are absolutely murder with motor oils. As demonstrated by your lab analysis, your XL seemed pretty decent up to 10K, perhaps on the downward curve to expended or worn out oil. I am going to run SS in my 3.5L, 0W-30, which isn't as sheer resistive as the 5W-30, according to Lake as the base package to thin it down for low temp flow makes it less resistive to sheer than a 5W, but my intention is to pull a lab sample at the beginning of the oil cycle for a base number and a later test at 6 months mid winter to see what the numbers look like, eg, should be 2500 or 3000 miles as I don't drive a lot related to work since I am retired.

Show us using it on a turbo

You mean using it through the throttle body like I have on my truck and many other ecoboost. It doesn't go through the turbo. Never spray anything through the turbo.
