A mahler 3 he did in Boston was a formative experience for me while still in high school.

A fine interview, full of passion. But I find the choice of photo inappropriate. It was taken in Kiel 15 years earlier, and shows a far less mature and more uncertain Tennstedt who had barely begun his acquaintance with the works of Mahler.

I can only wish that this interview were longer. Tennstedt was a truly great Mahler interpreter.
