I would HIGHLY recommend in investing in an owlet sock. It's a little device that wraps around the baby's foot and monitors oxygen levels. If it detects low oxygen or becomes dislodged, it'll play a tune. You can also monitor it on your phone, so it goes a LONG way towards alleviating any fears of apnea (which they found out a couple years ago is what leads to SIDS). We induced for both of our kids. Our son was a nightmare. It was during covid, so the hospital was seriously understaffed. The induction stalled, and my wife ended up in labour for 2 1/2 days. By the time he was ready to come out, ALL of the doctors were in a meeting and she was still just shy of 10cm. Thankfully, the nurse on duty was a total sweetheart and had only one other patient, so she stayed with us and monitored the other patient on the computer. She also got the birthing process started while waiting for the doctor on duty to show up. He came out with a 36cm head and the epidural wasn't seated right, so my wife felt every stitch after. Her mother was down from New York but was outside in the parking lot having a smoke when push time came, so I got to stay in the room and my wife learned she can rely on me to calmly relay all of her pre-written instructions and help her with pushing and confidence. Her mother wasn't as happy for having missed it, though. Our daughter was very different. We were allowed to induce a week early to avoid another giant head and the labour only lasted a few hours. The epidural held, and once the process started, she came out so fast they had to get my wife to try and hold her in long enough to get the stirrups up (it was only about 5 mins total for the pushing). Since I cut the cord last time, we cut this one together after allowing the baby to remain attached to the placenta the full half hour. My wife was so paranoid about baby swapping or some other incident that neither child ever left the room unless I accompanied the nurse. I didn't mind, though, as it let me stretch my legs and get some coffee and snacks. However, despite two largely positive experiences, I'm trying to convince her to try out the local midwife centre for the next baby, as they've got a sterling reputation and have birthing rooms set up like bedrooms and can do pool births. But we have plenty of time before we'll have to worry about making any plans. And yes, oatmeal and lactation cookies are both amazing. I also baked a LOT of peanut butter cookies after our daughter was born. Peanut butter's not only good for the milk but for the mood.

The first baby is almost always past the Due Date. My mom went 2 weeks early from her due date with me, my cousin was so upset because her due date was his birthday and he wanted his little cousin to be born on his birthday. After about 2 babies the hospital will admit if you show up with contractions because women who have had multiple babies tend to go from 0-60 quicker than normal. The most intense contractions I had was because I had been induced and it hurt like anything. Pitocon wasn't that strong too me. It didn't hurt at all. The needle hurt for the C-section to me. The needle for numbing wasn't bad but the actual needle for the actual epidural itself was awful.
