How much the liner became loose over time, I mean if your foot is very loose due to the loss of density of the foam. Do you recommend buying a size smaller than usual?
@seriouslyreallyserious
@seriouslyreallyserious Ай бұрын
Most of the padding is in the ankle area; I believe because it does not stay compressed for long, it has maintained most of its loft/thickness. I do not think sizing down is a good idea as these are somewhat slim already, your foot may start to cramp. In actuality I have recently found the boot may be too short. If you find a boot is too loose, consider using padded socks or an indoor to adjust fit. These come with a footbed insert which reduces internal volume (I.e. tighter fit). Another option is to use padded socks, though I prefer I unpadded myself.

Are the wheels good for indoors /outdoor. What bearings do you have them paired with. If i would get a different pair of wheels from what you had on yours would be a good pair of wheels you recommend for indoor / outdoor.
@seriouslyreallyserious
@seriouslyreallyserious Ай бұрын
Hi! Wheels are Rollerblade Hydrogen. Used once indoors, it may grip a lot but is suitable. Going to something harder like the Mushroom Blading or Powerslide Spinners (87a and higher) will be a bit better indoors. I think the bearings are Black Panther Ceramics, they are pretty good. Rains a lot here so it helps - alongside using Gel Lubricant - keep the ball bearings from corroding. They are not necessary, as my other skates have normal CrMo Steel Ball bearings and are just fine.

Not too many tricks, plenty of falls and scrapes. Though the occasional jump and spins do put some wear on them. I do live near the coast, however I would blame the humidity and the amount my feet sweat as the main mechanism. Taking the liner out form the boot after a session is the best strategy.
@SaccoBelmonte

@@seriouslyreallyserious Thank you for the extra details. Yeah, near the ocean, I mean those inlets and rivets are probably made out of tin so they would rust quite fast. Humidity near the coast is also much higher than where I live here in central EU. It can be real cold and dry, as low as 20% and mostly 30% and occasional 50% or 60% in some rainy days in summer. I'm still careful not to leave anything inside after a session. If I leave a pair of gloves or booties it will be game over in terms of smell lol. That is interesting. Some tips to relieve foot pain: Do a warm up skate, then take a break with your skates off for a few minutes. Try wearing thinner cushion/no cushion socks. Start with the cuff strap and ankle strap looser than you think necessary, and tighten after skating a bit. Before, during, and after a skate, massage your feet and ankle. Using a ball on the bottom is also great.

Crossfires have a slimmer fit in the foot, less ankle support, and a rockered wheel setup better suited for slalom. No sweat! Thanks for circling back. I had a similar experience having tried both out too now. UFS boots are heavy, especially Blanks. I got some inexpensive K2 110 frames off Ebay for my Blanks and I loved how much road jitter they absorb, although I am significantly more fatigued big-wheeling in them vs the Twister. The Twister is a weird foot shape though that would squeeze my pinkies so I just stick with the Blanks for both types of skating.

Good info mate, thx. I changed frame and wheels on this skate - comparing the original frame with endless frame I must say the RB frame is way too soft. Try some wizard skating, a subtle rockered setup. You can choose from a 165 mount or just the UFS frames as it was intended to be. Those little metal rings are frame bosses. Just saw a solution to loose bearings from a speed skater yesterday. Lay a strip, two, or three of cello tape thru your wheel until the bearings fit snuggly. If you want to try rockered frames there are cheaper options than Wizard from Endless, NN, Rockin', and Roka. And it seems like there are new brands coming online every month. I think the budget entry is the K2 R100 - 4x100mm with adjustable rockering. Or during rotation, flip your wheels without changing position to develop a natural rocker (maybe first and last if you have a particularly strong toe flick which causes faster wheel 1 wear).
@seriouslyreallyserious
@seriouslyreallyserious Жыл бұрын
Some good advice, they always fall out when I work on them. I may try that out, though I usually wait too long to rotate so maybe if I am more frequent that shold help. I find sometimes the falt setup sticks too much for twirls, so that should help a bit.

Very nice setup. :) You'll see they feel a bit more like "wearing trucks" but if you mentally forget about it and skate normally they will respond as good as the XTs with its own quirks, one of them, you need to tighten the cuff a bit more or your ankles will take a beating. 4 to 5th strap notch. (I usually start a 3 cause the front plastics needs to sit for a bit) I just got the 4x80 rockered frame for my XTs and, ooooh man they're like 10 times more maneuverable, night and day, it is crazy but in a good way after you get used to them. A bit unstable mostly when striding and being on the front wheels, you'll notice a wobble but it seems is a self correcting one (it never went out of control even while going as fast as I could). I haven't tried going downhill under a bridge and honestly is a scary proposition. You're gonna notice a noticeable drop in speed. You'll quickly find yourself having fun slaloming and not so much accelerating fast. You can still achieve a good speed and depends on your technique with the new setup but the sprint you get with a flat setup is gone.

I'm size 42.5 and I got mines 43/44 cause someone suggested you should upsize one number on RB skates (the twister edge are true to size). I have the XT and the 3WD and they fit really fine. The heel pocket in these is really good and they simply stay in place. With or without booties they fit great, with 2mm booties my heels are even more locked. The cuff's front plastic is quite stiff at first and so far I use the second buckle notch and I go one more after stating for some time. The 45 degree strap doesn't need to be super tight in order to have the skate anchored to your foot. About the laces, you tighten a bit so they're tensioned but you don't need to pull too hard. Yesterday I took my 3WD for a spin searching for a nearby speed track and I just ended letting myself get lost in the city with my red Luminous wheels. (night, no traffic Sunday at 9pm/10pm around Salzburg city) so after around 2h I came home with a smile in my face, no pressure points, all the skating was smooth and got full control at all times. After resting for about 1h I just had the feeling I wanted to jump back on them and keep going. Comparing the XT with my old fitness skates (same wheels): These are considerably faster since they're solid on your feet and they're heavier than a fitness skate so when you throw your feet forward for the next stride you feel the skate weight adding to the momentum.
