My mouse is working fine again, but I have a issue that randomly appears. some times my left mouse button registers it being pressed down at random and keeps giving off a signal of being pressed. It only disappears if I click it like 3-5 times. Any idea what could be causing this? (I'm using the exact same switch as the original)

Thanks so much for this. It was a great help and my G502 is even better now thanks to those "heavier" switches :)

Seems like it would be easier to just buy a decent joystick tbh. I barely used mine like <20 hours worth and it's already broken like this.

Not sure if you'll see this, but I keep running into an issue where it says :\Program Files (x86)\Arduino\hardware\teensy\avr\libraries\MTP_Teensy\src/MTP_Teensy.h:32:2: error: #error "You need to select USB Type: 'MTP Disk (Experimental)' or 'Serial + MTP Disk (Experimental)'" 32 | #error "You need to select USB Type: 'MTP Disk (Experimental)' or 'Serial + MTP Disk (Experimental)'" | ^~~~~ Not sure how to fix this. Do I have the wrong version of MTP_Teensy or something?

I've followed the tutorial and have only one problem: a weird noise when recording. Look like it's when the SD card writing (during the record) that the noise occur. The noise is synchronised with a LED on the teensy (the one behind the SD Card) Here what I've checked: - wiring look ok - no error in code - used different power supply (pc & normal plug) - used a ground isolator - tested 3 differents mic and the noise is still here - used different card sd (32gb can't write on it but can read - 16gb doesn't work - a 128MB work fine) - wire directly to the teensy without passing by the phone card I'm asking for any help :)

Hey I don’t know if you check these comments on here but I have the exact same phone and was wondering if you would be able to share your code for this project? I am so close to having it done but have the same issue with the quiet recordings.

Sure! Just created a fork of the original repo and added my change: github.com/mattpassarelli/audio-guestbook. The specific commit with my changes (basically just some volume and gain tweaks) is here: github.com/mattpassarelli/audio-guestbook/commit/5233ec0eb38da3a1f3174d4a5e15fcb2dc147dcf

here's a little tip for those who are interested in changing or replacing a part. the first time you do it. it's gonna be hard, and there will be times you mess up. but, the second time you give it a try you'll succeed. but I do recommend after you take apart your first console/system etc give it some time to let it sink in also. I HIGHLY recommend you buy a tool kit smt with alot of screws like Philips and tri wing

Small updates: - I did manage to fix the weird ground looping sound at 29:10. Turns out that the terminal block in this phone shares a lot of internal wiring so things kept getting crossed (probably. I didn't dismantle it to see so it's just a theory -a phone? theory-). Solution to that was just wiring everything together manually and forgoing the terminal block at all. This might be the biggest factor for many people with this style of phone. - I replaced the microphone. I used these: www.amazon.com/dp/B01N0VMN9P. Though and electrect style microphone will work. Just be wary of your gain settings. This improved recordings dramatically. - I added a status LED linked to the power button I put on the back. It's simple and it keeps me from plugging in the USB while it's on and potentially shorting things out. Hope that helps!

I'm using the exact same model of phone and the new microphone was necessary. Even after removing any connection to the terminal block on the phone, I still get that weird looping noise in the background. Any reason why it still might be happening even after trying that fix?
@MattPassarelli
@MattPassarelli Ай бұрын
@@jacobkistler4815 I'd check other grounds elsewhere. I have the battery going to the Teensy and then everything is branched off that one pin. Extra grounds or connections might be causing some kind of loop

How much did u pay? I only see versions which costs over 150 dollers… is it worth it?
@MattPassarelli
@MattPassarelli 28 күн бұрын
Maybe like $70-80 in total for parts after shipping? It certainly wasn't $150. Maybe those include you sending in the GC and the labor in doing the mod for you. I'm not sure. But I like the mod, it was fun to do in general, but I was stuck at home for about a week and decided to replay some retro games and it made it a piece of cake to plug into my home theatre which was super nice.

I followed this procedure and other than the yaw being backwards it works (I reverse back it in the games). This took a while to complete but it works great. I used Kapton tape to insulate the 2 outside legs of the IC and only 5, of the 6x3mm magnets I had which was about 1/2" in length total. If you have fiddly skills and patience, this mod is so much better than stock and corrects the drift and jiggle. I hot glued the top and around the edge and lots of glue where it wouldn't interfere and the magnets placed below the IC.

I swear its made to break. Optical and hall effect joysticks have existed for 25+ years. Im gonna see if i can dig up and convert my old Microsoft sidewinder force feedback stick to USB rather than go through repairing this mess. That one uses fully optical system for everything including throttle.

I’ve had my SP since I was 5! Every few years i’d pick it back up and replay some of the classics. After 21 years of it trucking through life perfectly fine I finally dropped it and the shell cracked, I guess the old plastic got brittle over time, it practically fell apart as I disassembled it. I switched over to a nice atomic purple shell, and this was super useful!! Thank you so much!!

Excellent video. I didn't have replacement switch but instead I opened it up from your instructions of disassembly and simply cleaned the internals and switches with isopropyl alcohol. Works perfect like new again. Thanks for sharing the video, appreciated.

Hey your link shows 2 sizes of magnets they are out of stock but i can source others. Did you use the 3mm wide magnet or the 5mm wide magnet? Thanks in advance
@MattPassarelli
@MattPassarelli 3 ай бұрын
I’m pretty certain I used the 3mm magnets from that kit. The size doesn’t *really* matter, just so long as they fit within the handle. You just need the sensor to be able to read the magnetic field, so either should work in the end.
