I'm confused.... were all SA 323's low spec? Because in my country these were introduced in 1989 and came in two grades, LX and GLX. From launch, all of them had power steering and air-con. The GLX added full power features (windows, mirrors, locks), tachometer, larger 1.5 engine (LX was 1.3), and nicer seating

CFR 3043 was my 2.0i Opel in the 80s and 90s , drove it for almost 15 years

Just a mention those Opels were all steel while half of the BMW were aluminium not standard for the standard ones
