+bowrudder This link is a good clarification. I know it might not convince you, but at the least this is a friendly comment to show you our understanding. Best wishes. en.fairmormon.org/Mormonism_and_temples/Made_with_hands

Zander Sturgill Thanks, Zander, I appreciate the personal touch. But they lost me after the first few lines when they said, _"It is claimed that Acts __17:24__-25 teaches that the idea of temple worship is foreign to Christianity."_ I don't claim that. Jewish Christians continued to live out their Jewish lives, complete with going to the temple. But -- and this is important -- non-Jewish Christians did not. For the details, read Acts chapter 15. Since LDS members are not Jewish, Jewish law (including the temple) would not apply to them. I'd be happy to go over this with you, but suggest that you read Acts chapter 15 over and over again, until the picture emerges of what went down there, paying special attention to verses 5, 10 and 28. My main issue with LDS temples is that they have nothing to do with Old Testament temples. You had to be a member of the tribe of Levi in order to officiate, and LDS members are not of the tribe of Levi. You had to be a man 30+ years old, but Mormons let women and young adults/youth do temple work. There was no movie theater, no endowment ceremony, no sealings, no baptisms for the dead. The temple was first and foremost for performing sacrifices, not raising your arm to the square. Let me put it like this. If I buy an old car and say I am going to restore it, but then stick fins on it, and cut a hole for an over-sized chrome carburetor, it may look cool, but it's not a restoration. In the same way, Mormon temples are not a restoration. There was only one temple, and it was built on the lot purchased by David in Jerusalem, on the spot where Abraham sacrificed Isaac. When it was destroyed, they built a new one on the same spot. It's not a franchise. Temples aren't supposed to dot the land. Does that make sense?

may i respectfully add: 1 Corinthians 3:14-17 Ezekiel 42:8 Old Testament For the length of the chambers that were in the utter court was fifty cubits: and, lo, before the temple were an hundred cubits. Temple has much learning attached to it . Holiness to The Lord as His ways are Higher than ours and may we continue in humble searching prayerful study on this Topic

At that time, the Temple was a place to sacrifice to Yahweh. The Levites of course being the ordained tribe to do thusly. That time is past. The Messiah has come. Now the temples dotting the world are to seal the human family and through covenants to the Savior for the purpose of Exaltation for those that obey the commandments, are baptized and so on. Rather simple if you let pride move aside and learn by the spirit. Thank you

@@bowrudder899 We believe we are adopted into the house of Israel, at the very least. We also believe that most of us are literal descendants of Israel.

His challenge to build temples in the center of cities makes me think of the NYC and Philadelphia temples, the latter being the most conspicuous example. This was a very interesting paper. Is the text available online?
