Smart approach on this car- with 375K miles on it you are doing all the right things to head off problems. I bought a 1998 SC400 eleven years ago and it has been a great daily driver ever since. I am amazed at how bullet proof the engines on these SC models are. Thanks for all the videos on this model!

Weren't you turboing this car 2 years ago? What happened?

Ended up selling the car, selling off the turbo parts too, still have a complete engine if anyone needs parts off it. 300zx's are fun cars I was just rdy to move on. Thanks for the comment

The front black stripe discontinued on the 1995 models Since 1995 and 96 models the front stripe were painted from factory the same color

12 years ago I changed timing belt himself with factory service manual. I am impressed by the simplicity of construction, because in today's cars (Audi v6, tdi v6 , BMW and similar ) it's terrible !!!. In the 1990s, replacing the timing belt on a 300zx was terrifying for a 80% mechanics.

Craftsman tools were solid bread and butter,but it only took the bankers about a decade to destroy 80 years of goodwill.The warranty downside in many instances encouraged abuse in so many ways.The sockets are,(and were) cold formed which is why they failed.Often.And the size gaps....SBD needs to let the brand die and get it over with.even though the hill billies will insist that Sears actually manufactured these tools.personally,they can fight over what is left because really does not have any monetary value.Like SK,just get over it......

Hey man i been watching all your videos. I need help with a steering wheel swap. Change out my sc400 steering wheel for is300 and bought the part from ebay like you. How did you get your horn to work.? Everything is connected, but it won't, honk.
@BuildTheoryZ18 күн бұрын
Hey, thanks for watching! Is your horn set up the same way with the pressing on the center to activate? The adapter harness is just for the airbag. The horn is just a ground wire. I just looked at IS300 steering wheels on eBay, the wire for the horn might be blue with a single female connector that should slid on the a male tab on the horn. Hard to explain everything in a KZfaq comment

Got it to work thanks for the reply @BuildTheoryZ
@dreamforglory26117 күн бұрын
same for me but i figured it out little summary your going to have to find the ground wires, for the sc steering wheel it’s going to be the 4 t30 and on the is300 wheel it’s the 3 grounds all i did was connect some electrical tape to behind the ground so whenever you push it down it sounds, hard to explain but hope this helps

I would not cut and splice new connectors if the original ones are destroyed, good way to introduce more problems down the road. De-pinning connectors is far better and more reliable long term, and really not hard to do.

@@BuildTheoryZ I’m an SC guy. I swapped my SC300 with a JDM 1JZ-GTE Twin-Turbo but it is now down to just 100PSI compression in cylinder #4. I just purchased a brand new 2JZ-GTE short block from Toyota and I’m going to tackle this one hybrid motor project solo. Is this channel mostly SC content? If so, I’ll go ahead and subscribe because this video was nicely detailed with good camera angles. Should also come in handy if I ever take my UCF20 LS400 out of mothballs.

Yeah LOWES is totally inconsistent I’ve had employees tell me to go grab the same one send me out the door with no questions then I’ve also had others ask for receipts and then tell me I need to call a 1800 number even with the Kolbalt stuff that is their house brand, Ace on the other hand is always been great about warranties from my experience they have even given me a upgraded version at times when they had no identical replacement in stock. On the other hand Home Depot is always been consistently great at exchanging the Husky tools in the rare event they fail as they are basically a less expensive version of Gearwrench. I can confidently can state from years of experience that Husky and other Apex sourced tools tend to be manufactured to a higher standard than the vast majority of modern Craftsmen SBD imported tools available today.

daily drove my car for 10 years. it had some minor fixable issues and your average 30 year old car stuff but through all the other performance cars ive had, every time one has broken in a way worse way or just got out of hand... the 300zx has always been there waiting for me. never skipped a beat and is now at 230,000 miles. i plan on twin turbo swapping once the engine goes but honestly i have no idea when it will lol.. its a great daily for the summer time
