A lot of times they won’t clean it until it’s rented. So it’s not that strange that they’re dirty. And usually I will clean it before move in anyway…

I’ve almost always lived in a house in Los Angeles (with family). When I finally moved out, I had to move to van nuys to find a reasonable price ($1200 in 2021). It was cute, but a very small 1 bdrm and it had roaches. I moved back home after breaking my lease the 9th or 10th month. I tried EVERYTHING to get rid of the roaches, but it turned out that my neighbors and another unit never let them spray for roaches. I was grossed out. I’m traumatized. Afraid to get another place. I’m a nurse now, but idk if I can move to an apartment.

@sademahogany22 күн бұрын
girlllll it was hard!!! i eventually got off of zillow bc half the listings weren’t up to date or didn’t get back to me. i eventually had to drive around and look at apartment complexes that had posted vacancies outside or just took down their websites to look at their availability online
@gotrice527 күн бұрын
I'm glad I moved out of K-town. Lived there for a year and my experience was meh. Apartment quality is so low and the work done on it are so cheap, you can tell just by the overspray of paint on the knobs, hinges, etc. Almost all cheap spots don't even offer dedicated parking. Now live around the nicer part of Lakewood/Long Beach area and the peace of mind I get is so much better plus I get a dedicated gated parking spot. $1664 for a 500sq/ft studio w/ a great layout. If you love the city life, then I guess you gotta work hard to make it happen. Glad you found a spot though.
@sademahogany27 күн бұрын
Yeah, K-town was tough. I actually considered Long Beach, but this area turned out to be the most convenient at the time. I may have to reconsider outside of the city next time I move, so it’s good to know you get more for your money in that area. Thanks for sharing!

Okay, I’m going to give you grace since you said you were from NJ AND I’m ONLY 4:22 minutes in. Now, I was born & raised in LA. So, when I’m hearing your price point and the needs/ wants I’m saying out loud “do you mean LA the City or LA County?” Hahaha. Because, baby, LA, you definitely wasn’t going to get those needs under 1400. Most of my family still lives in LA, Compton and Inglewood and their apartments are small even the houses in Compton on Peach street, smh. Anyway, let me keep watching.

Okay I finished. GIRL!!! My mouth stayed dropped on some of those places. That one that had the laundry in the basement, first thing came to mind was the R$pe word. I’d NEVER do my laundry in any of those places. And another thing, a lot of people will live in any of those places. 🤷🏾♀️

California housing law states that refrigerators are not considered required amenities to include. So you will find a lot of apartments without them.

You find Japanese more difficult than Korean?
@sademahogany Жыл бұрын
yeah, just starting out, definitely. i think the most intimidating about Japanese over Korean are the writing systems with there being 2 plus learning Kanji. But other than that, I enjoy it. I feel like my view is biased bc I started with Japanese & some of the grammar points are similar to Korean, so it’s kind of like having a head start

WELL DONE! Keep up the good work in inspiring us language learners. You mentioned that you want to learn Arabic, a tip. DON'T BOTHER, IT'S TOO HARD!!! Only kidding. I have been studying Arabic for four years now. It is only now that I am getting to grips with this fascinating language and culture. My suggestion is, don't learn Modern Standard Arabic, choose to learn a dialect instead. When you become fluent in that dialect, then learning MSA is a natural progression. I started learning Arabic with MSA and I felt like I was getting nowhere ... Now I am studying Dajia, which is Moroccan Arabic (it is a creole language made up of French, Spanish, Arabic and Berber languages). The point is, Arabic is ALIVE; MSA is the official language that most Arabic speakers understand but they do not use it in conversation. Salaam 3aleikum!
@sademahogany Жыл бұрын
Thank you for the advice!! I’ve been getting tripped up on learning MSA first or a dialect, so this was extremely helpful! I hope one day I have 4 years in like you!!
