Can you use the rotary phone to call your cell phone so it rings in case you can't find it?

Hi, there! Can you connect it to a Bluetooth speaker/headset? And if yes - can you use the VOX function? I am asking because I am looking for a radio for a motorcycle helmet.

I don't get how you could talk about everything that you did and not include emergency preparedness in this. Irresponsible or ignorance.

I learned to fly at Mike Dewey Aviation when I was 17. That was over 50 years ago! Dad had a D17S Staggerwing hangared there from 1961 - 1977. Today I'm based at Van Nuys but fly my Beechcraft Baron into Santa Paula often. Always a pleasure to get back to my roots.

it is not suitable for EU (9kHz spacing): either 999 or 1008 kHz.

Great video. I’m just getting into ham radio and you very clearly and simply communicated all the initial basic questions I had with quick, engaging demonstration. Awesome :)

By far the best aviation handheld ive ever owned , super sensitive , strong audio , did a Lithium ion conversion for the battery using old laptop cells and a bms , at 12.6v puts out around 3w AM , with the lithium pack , it works for two days at mostly receive. also got the marine band version , puts out 6w on vhf , its my go to marine radio for all around use on the dock.

Interesting, since FCC regulations require blocking cellular frequencies. Not as much of a problem now, but much earlier, scanners that could receive cellular could listen in on anyone’s cell phone calls.

The RT 470x the newer version is only 5W with good ratings on Amazon plus Amazon Choice, the RT 470 is 10W (the one you are reviewing) but a lower ratings and more expensive. Which one should I go for? (Would be my first radio)

Watched your guitar vids for a while, and just stumbled on this channel. Dude, I’m a private pilot, General ham radio op, car guy and play guitar. Brother from another mother lol! Good stuff. Look into a discone antenna for your scanner. Very broadband. Also, work on your general. When you get into HF, this hobby is much more fun! Also, consider getting into the digital modes. Not only things like Dstar and YSF, but also FT8 and the like.

I grew up in Santa Maria and remember several small airports that were in the area. One at Hancock College. Another just North of Santa Maria near the river where Tony Machado operated a crop dusting business. Of course Oceano and Santa Ynez. I used to go flying with my Dad and we'd visit the various fields. I'm thinking this must have been in the mid to late 1950's. Fond memories.

Great Encouraging Video and really thought out and organized very well. Appreciate your effort. I am a retired helo driver, little bird and UH1 (30 years in Army) and a former SCCA race driver. I can appreciate your motivation for aircraft and cars. But I would add one more reason besides fun and that is part of being prepared (prepper). I agree with the learning concept about going directly from letter sound to finger movement without translating to dots and dashes. From a musician's standpoint, it's not unlike fingerpicking, or for that matter, learning to do forward or reverse rolls on a banjo. (In addition to ham, I've played banjo and guitar for years....)

Can this be used the other way around, to answer incoming calls on the landline, from the cell phone? i.e. by connecting the Cell 2 Jack device's RJ11 cable, into the landline wall jack, using a two-way jack adapter, to keep the landline phone connected. If not, is there a device for this purpose? Here's the reason: I work in a restaurant which his phone is connected to a landline. When I have to take delivery calls, I am often away from the phone and have to run to it to answer. Thank you.

Have you checked its out of band Harmonics , The radio is very dirty and not fcc accepted..from what I understand.

I ordered one. I like using my answering machine to screen calls. It is loud and tells me the name of the person.

I looked for a device like this ten years ago largely because my phone only works in certain places of the house. Now I need to find a rotary for full awesomeness.

That antenna dose not look like the original. Looks like a Radio-Shack CB or scanner antenna. The antenna must be tuned to the operating frequency range. Make sure the antenna is intended for the aviation band or you could damage the radios RF output stage. The antenna is very important when transmitting . Tim W8RNG
