Bit strange that, cold tyres? Hope you are OK and the bike not suffered too much

@@gerryattrickbiker Was on lap 7 of qualifying. We hit a (big) bump and lost the front. We’re OK 🙂 We got the bike repaired and made both races 👍

Is there a quick change kit for the front you have/know of?
@TwoDavesRacing
@TwoDavesRacing Жыл бұрын
I’m not aware of a proper quick change kit available yet - as in, one which does not require the removal of the front calipers. Replacement front spindles are available, but they don’t save a great amount of time.

@@TwoDavesRacing maybe the front fender is flexible enough to not need it? i've seen one style from Fast Frank for other bikes, and it doesn't look terribly difficult to adapt to this bike (or any other sportbike for that matter)

is there a reason why the threads are backwards? i've seen this before, is it so the tire spinning tries to tighten it?
@TwoDavesRacing
@TwoDavesRacing Жыл бұрын
I’m not sure to be honest. Cars and trucks stopped using lefthand threads on wheels as it made little difference regarding torque transfer (ie bolts coming loose). Perhaps it’s easier to machine with that type of thread 🤷‍♂️👍
@Legend57.
@Legend57. Ай бұрын
This type of threads are more commonly used in places where there's alot of spinning i.e inside the engine components like camshafts or radiator fans on cars. But It's a safety feature that significantly lowers the chances of the bolt coming loose since the wheel is spinning in the opposite direction of the treads. They engineered it like this coz it would be catastrophic for both the bike and rider if the bolt came loose since it's all that's holding the rear wheel in place. This is also why it's important to use the right torque specs on your bolts and nuts. In some cases it could be the difference between life and de*th!

It was fun! But it probably would have been nicer to get a better start (or a better qualifying) so that I could capture the results that my lap times indicated. But we live and learn & we’ll try again next time 🙂👍

TheYakkis Glad you enjoyed it - I remember that being a fun race! The bike we were battling with was a Triumph 675 (in the separate Sound of Thunder class but on track at the same time) which had about 40bhp more than us. The bike that we caught towards the end was our class winner, so we weren’t too far behind at the end 😊

Yes, GPS provided the speedometer reading. This bike is circa 50bhp at the rear wheel - a small increase on stock due to the race exhaust

Cheers! The bike never likes to run hot... The rad is 80% tape up as well. Only issues I have ever had is when the temp has dropped below 30degrees. If the bike is happy to run at those low temps, then I'm happy too ;-)
