Hi Brandon, did you first create your notes and then use the spreadsheet to track repeated revision sessions, or does creating notes for 1.1 count as your first input on the dashboard?
@bhill-biznessprofessionals6 күн бұрын
I'd create my notes and flashcards, then review them right after. Then I'd enter that first review on the spreadsheet
@rickhickman273011 күн бұрын
What did your review schedule look like on a day when you had 4 sections to review for example? Just problems and flashcards from the review sections and then into the new material? I'm preparing for level 1, have a good study routine but my review routine sucks and I'm not sure how to effectively split my time so i don't fall behind on readings but still get my review in. Example, i study for 3-4 hours per day on week days; would you do 1 hour of review, then the remaining 2-3 hours of studying afforded to new material? Or how much of your study time would be allocated to review for you each day? Did you get through a reading per day or a full section per day? Specifically, a "section" normally includes 3-4 readings in fixed income for example.
@bhill-biznessprofessionals11 күн бұрын
Yes, when I had 4 sections to review, I would review my flashcards and do a few practice problems from Kaplan. If I didn't understand something, I'd go back to the textbook material. I typically went back and forth between reviewing material and learning new material. I would review a few sections, for example, then learn a new section, and then go back to reviewing the remaining sections. Whenever I switched, it felt like a break to me. With Kaplan, there are the Topics, the Readings, and then the "sections." I tried to learn 2 new sections per day. 2 sections may seem low, but once you start reviewing past lessons, your study load per day will build up pretty quickly. Most of my studying time on any given day was spent reviewing material.

From my earliest years until I turned 18, I grappled with self-doubt and academic challenges. Despite my best efforts, subjects like math, English, and physics remained elusive to me throughout my school years. Yet, amidst these struggles, a greater trial awaited: from ages 10 to 17, I underwent the taxing ordeal of dialysis. However, within the depths of adversity, I nurtured a flicker of hope and ambition. At 17, a life-changing kidney transplant marked a turning point in my journey, infusing me with renewed determination and a sense of purpose. But the road to success was far from smooth. In the corridors of academia, I encountered the hurtful words of bullies and the isolating silence of indifference. Yet, I refused to be defined by my setbacks. Instead, I transformed them into stepping stones, each hurdle propelling me closer to my dreams. Today, as I reflect on the trials I've overcome, I am filled with gratitude for the resilience that sustained me. With unwavering support from loved ones, I navigated the darkest of nights, emerging stronger and more determined than ever. My journey, though marked by challenges, is a testament to the power of perseverance and the resilience of the human spirit. And as I set my sights on a career in finance, particularly in pursuing my dream of becoming a CFA, I do so with a heart full of hope and a steadfast belief in the boundless possibilities that lie ahead.

Hopefully, some others will comment and give their opinion as well, but I tried using CFA materials and Kaplan's materials, and Kaplan worked better for me for two reasons. 1) Kaplan's material was more concise and more digestible to read and take notes on. I found that the CFAI material was lengthy. This made it harder to learn from and more intimidating to learn from 2) Kaplan's QBank (bank of practice questions) interface was easy to use. I was able to easily build mini-quizzes and review my answers with the explanation that each question has attached to it

Hey Gary! I appreciate you reaching out. I don't think a math course is necessary. None of the math on the CFA level 1 exam is particularly advanced. And the math concepts you do need to know, you will pick up through Kaplan's textbook material or through the explanations to the answers to the practice questions in Kaplan's QBank (bank of all practice questions).

The Similarity Principle can also translate into the basis for workplace discrimination.
@stephenprice67923 ай бұрын
That Similarity Principle is profound. I believe this also applies in business as well. This is a predominately white society and I believe that they do overwhelmingly feel more comfortable dealing with each other. This maintains a high socioeconomic and political status in society. In my Pro Se discrimination case against my employer (predominately white institution), the other side has refused to negotiate in good faith with me as a black man (some may say it’s due to me being Pro Se) for 3 years. A white female has entered the negotiations on my behalf and there has been some traction…amazing.

Hey Brandon, been using your template for a while now for August - I am wondering what did you do when some days you had over 5 flashcards sets to review? I've been getting 6 and even 7 in some days and I find it hindering the amount of time I could be learning the new material, how would you recommend to work around?
@bhill-biznessprofessionals3 ай бұрын
If you are struggling with 5 flashcard sets, your flashcards may be too complex, or you are spending too much time on your flashcards due to understanding. Your flashcards should be for reviewing, not for learning for the first time. This could be why it's taking so long to get through your flashcards. You could go back to review your original notes to develop understanding first. Then your flashcards will be a review. Often, I was spending seconds on each flashcard. And I would sometimes have up to 20 sets per day to review. You need to be able to move through flashcards quickly to do that volume obviously. As you start to rank more lessons 9 or 10, this will alleviate how many flashcard decks you could potentially review per day, since the study sessions are spaced out further. But somedays are just brutal with the scheduling as the due dates for lessons pile up on one day in particular. For these days, you could lesson the load by studying a few lessons a day or two later, if that day has a light load
@specterwo1f7463 ай бұрын
