I extended my lease in mn for 2 more months to keep looking for san Diego apartments. Seems very tough to find a spot. Downtown is best value at $2500 for 1 one bedroom 700 sq ft assigned parking but have to deal with homelessness. Some say no biggie some say they are zombies that charge at you lol Other option is north park but tiny apartments for $2500. Usually no assigned parking Other option then is la mesa and random areas like la mesa, chula vista and otay ranch which seem far Any tips greatly appreciated my girlfriend and i work remote Thanks a ton

If you aren’t sure, I’d try to find a 6 month lease if possible. Somewhere like North Park or Mission Valley could be a great place to start while you better understand San Diego, and figure out the areas you like and dislike. North Park without parking should be fine, depending on the exact location. I’d stay at least 1-2 blocks away from University Ave and El Cajon Blvd

@@DanPBestLifeSD thanks a ton for this. Thinking short term lease in san diego then explore then sign 6-12 month lease might be the best strategy. Feels risky moving from our perfect apartment in Minnesota selling everything to move across country but will be worth it when its -16 degrees and sunsets at 4pm and my fingers are frozen as im driving to the gym here

In general, if you are 'young' n hip, San Diego is it, why? If your friends are apt dwellers, they'll be closer as well as work commutes, foodies & nitelife. No. County, is it if, you have long term appreciation plans, Wrk from Hm, thoughts of a family, newer construction, have aversion to the 'un-housed' or enjoy living 'more' laidback. Spcl mention to Oceanside for a budding single life culture. Plez don't come for me if you disagree (I've lived years in both).

This is not even a competition! Hands down, San Diego! Why? You may ask. For starters, San Diego is way more diverse and culturally rich. The atmosphere is more mellow and inviting. It is the perfect refuge for young people who want to break free from the repressive, judgmental, and stuck-up snobs who live in North County. Sorry if this offends anyone, but it's the truth.

Not even a competition? Well I’m glad this viewpoint is unbiased hahah. For a lot of people, San Diego makes sense over North County. But that doesn’t mean it’s right for everyone

People living paycheck to paycheck can never afford a house in San Diego. Only those who live beyond paycheck to paycheck can buy in Sandiego... I.e mortgage is (beyond paycheck) and income is paycheck!!😮 Only the truly desperate like me buy, and pay mortgage from savings than income 😢

How do you think the value of properties like this will change over time as the development gets built out? Do you think there is more leverage for the buyers in the early stage of the development? Is that leverage mostly in design credits for a custom build or also in list price? Great vid!

(1) I am wondering if all or most of the solar panel economy is from China, and if so, why would US workers & companies not be making them (assuming that's true)? Question (2) are there any dangers with these storage batteries, environmental or otherwise?). Thanks. JTC

My home I bought in 2016 for $385k is approaching a million dollars in value after the last appraisal. Tells me all I need to know. I've put about $125k in upgrades, additions and landscaping but still, jumping from sub $400k to just over $900k in 8 years is crazy to me. I'm not complaining one bit, but I feel for people searching for a home to buy now. Asking prices for a lot of these homes are ridiculous for what you're getting. Then there are rent prices.

I grew up in San Diego, moved to Ramona when I was 15, then recently moved back down to finish up school at SDSU after commuting from Ramona for 3 years. I love it here. I also think another pro about San Diego is how diverse it is which results in a really great cultural exchange/melting pot. The one thing I will say is that we do have pretty bad traffic (not as bad as LA) coupled with mediocre transit and outdated civil engineering.

@DanPBestLifeSD
@DanPBestLifeSD 9 күн бұрын
Affordability and San Diego are not two words that really go together. You can find some affordability compared to the rest of the county if you go farther north to Oceanside, Vista, Escondido and Fallbrook, or down south to Chula Vista, but Carlsbad is a very desirable and pricey city. The median price home in Carlsbad is up to $1.6 million, so comparatively these new construction homes are priced very well! Especially when considering the proximity to the coast.

When you are buying property in California, you are voting with your money. Do you agree how this state is being managed? Meanwhile, millions of migrants are easily passing through the border every month and they get paid for it. Your healthcare system and everything else is going to go down the toilet.

The best zip code is 92127, in the city of San Diego and in North County. Plus, that’s where the Rancho Bernardo Industrial Park ( all the big tech companies including Apple building a 5000 employee campus) is and the fine Poway school system. On the west end is higher upscale Black Mountain Ranch and Parts of Rancho Santa Fe.

I wish someone would have told me/WARNED ME this about Carlsbad, and that is "...Recreational Fires..." Recreational fires are allowed/permitted anywhere in Carlsbad except on the beach or in a homeowners association. I have lived west of I 5 in the downtown area for 41 years and we have "recreational" every week pretty much everyday even July & Aug non stop and there's nothing I/we can do about it. (Decided to rent my place out in Carlsbad and have now moved because of this situation.) Many people have small fire pits in their front and back yards and what's mind boggling is that it'l be 89 degrees in July or Aug or here's one for you the Santa Anna's are blowing California is on the news that the devil winds are burning down cities and big areas and people in Carlsbad are having their Recreational Fires going -- seriously! No bs! I mean you can't make this stuff up. What's interesting is if your fire pit is 15' from your house you can burn 24/7 365. I'm in a duplex where the garages are connected where there's 36 units like that with no HOA, and everyone front door is 25' from each other - and people burn every week. It doesn't mater where your at in Carlsbad I've talked to many many people and they're going through the same frustration where they can't open their window because of this hobby of Recreational Fires burning daily. So what I did was I took numerous pictures and documented every time the police and fire dept was called out by me and others having the same problem which was a very long list, and that list was presented to the city counsel. I wrote up and document everything, made a package with numerous pictures of all the fire pits actually burning and smoking out others apartments, condo's, and homes so I had "proof" not jut complaining whining words. I presented each package and personally delivered it to each member of those on the Carlsbad City Council with my name number and email, and did not get one response. I'll I'm trying to do hear is The Golden Rule, tell people, (because I wish I would have been told this) that if you do decide to move to Carlsbad I would highly recommend asking many people in the neighborhood your interested in about ""smoke"" entering their homes. Thee other issue is the chimney smoke, Carlsbad decided to allow building etc go up higher so many people are getting smoke from chimneys. Again just trying to warn people do your homework on this major health issue. If you have any doubts on what I'm writing about please feel free to contact me here on YT, I will be more than willing to send you some pictures so you know I'm not just making this up. On thee other side of the coin Carlsbad is a good place to live if you don't mind the over the top crowds cars, and hard to find beach parking. Peace and good luck to ya.

Hi Dan! I’m in my 30s in the Midwest saving up for my fha down payment. I’m looking at AZ or NV to get closer to California as it is the ultimate goal. I was wondering if you’d ever do a video about the best places to live for gay couples with children. For me, it’s the cultural safety of CA that draws me. I want my kids to be safe, and I know I’m not the only gay person with this unique to our community question who live in red states currently and need out.
