"One of the arguments often used in any defense of a closed canon is the New Testament passage recorded in Revelation 22:18: “For I testify unto every man that heareth the words of … this book, If any man shall add unto these things, God shall add unto him the plagues that are written in this book.” However, there is now overwhelming consensus among virtually all biblical scholars that this verse applies only to the book of Revelation, not the whole Bible. Those scholars of our day acknowledge a number of New Testament “books” that were almost certainly written after John’s revelation on the Isle of Patmos was received. Included in this category are at least the books of Jude, the three Epistles of John, and probably the entire Gospel of John itself. Perhaps there are even more than these. But there is a simpler answer as to why that passage in the final book of the current New Testament cannot apply to the whole Bible. That is because the whole Bible as we know it-one collection of texts bound in a single volume-did not exist when that verse was written. For centuries after John produced his writing, the individual books of the New Testament were in circulation singly or perhaps in combinations with a few other texts but almost never as a complete collection. Of the entire corpus of 5,366 known Greek New Testament manuscripts, only 35 contain the whole New Testament as we now know it, and 34 of those were compiled after a.d. 1000. The fact of the matter is that virtually every prophet of the Old and New Testament has added scripture to that received by his predecessors. If the Old Testament words of Moses were sufficient, as some could have mistakenly thought them to be, then why, for example, the subsequent prophecies of Isaiah or of Jeremiah, who follows him? To say nothing of Ezekiel and Daniel, of Joel, Amos, and all the rest. If one revelation to one prophet in one moment of time is sufficient for all time, what justifies these many others? What justifies them was made clear by Jehovah Himself when He said to Moses, “My works are without end, and … my words … never cease.” One Protestant scholar has inquired tellingly into the erroneous doctrine of a closed canon. He writes: “On what biblical or historical grounds has the inspiration of God been limited to the written documents that the church now calls its Bible? … If the Spirit inspired only the written documents of the first century, does that mean that the same Spirit does not speak today in the church about matters that are of significant concern?” We humbly ask those same questions." - Jeffrey R. @@CalledtoShare Personally I find no reason to trust the reliability of the Book of Mormon historically or logically. The original tablets which are allegedly the base of the Book were written 400 AD correct? I find no evidence there was any migration of Hebrews from 600 BC or following, as they simply lacked the technology and there is no historically verifiable source to support it other than the book that we're trying to authenticate. Not only that it contradicts core Jewish/Hebrew teachings; one prime example is that God the Father is not comprised of a physical form- he's a transcendent spiritual being. Though we do agree God the Son technically _did_ take *on* the form of a man, but in his natural form he is not a physical being. In Addition to this, the Bible explicitly states God (meaning Father, Son, and Holy Ghost) are of One being despite being distinct in relation to each other and are all eternal and uncreated. Now my second gripe is I dont trust the alleged prophet Joseph Smith. He claimed to have written the BM based on the already dubious scripture (which I heard is for some odd reason written in Egyptian/Coptic?), yet the source artifact itself is nowhere to be found so we can verify Joseph Smith _actually_ wrote whats in the BM. Also he's repeatedly made prophecies that haven't come true. Such as his prediction in 1836 that the end was coming soon, when in 1832 he prophesied that a LDS temple would be built in Independence, Missouri within his generation and to this day has yet to be started on, and how he also is reported to have claimed there were people on the moon. Finally his lifestyle was dubious as well, in addition to false prophecy he also supported and engaged in polygamy, a sharp contradiction to biblical teaching. Those are the main reasons I politely rebuke the faith of Mormonism. Regardless of my stance I wish to make it clear I do not harbor any ill will to the people in said faith, most mormons I've meet are very kind people.

It would be good if you can find one that talks about why Paul rebaptized the converts who had already been baptized. When Paul went to Ephesus he found 12 men who had been baptized, but they had not yet received the Holy Ghost. They said to Paul, “We have not so much as heard whether there be any Holy Ghost” (Acts 19:2). What happened next is significant. Paul had them baptized again. Then he conferred upon them, by the laying on of hands, the gift of the Holy Ghost (see Acts 19:2-7).

@@guardianangel9517 I'll answer your inquiry. It was because those men were not baptized by the proper priesthood authority. They claimed to have been but they was not, they was baptized by someone who saw how John baptized but whoever that individual was the scripture is silent but we can conclude that they was not baptized by John neither did they know what John had taught in his preaching nor of Jesus Christ of whom John testified of. Let's read a few, Acts 19:2-6 "He said unto them, Have ye received the Holy Ghost since ye believed? And they said unto him, WE HAVE NOT SO MUCH AS HEARD WHETHER THERE BE ANY HOLY GHOST. 3 And he said unto them, UNTO WHAT THEN WERE YE BAPTIZED? And they said, Unto John’s baptism. 4 Then said Paul, JOHN VERILY BAPTIZED with the baptism of repentance, SAYING UNTO THE PEOPLE, THAT THEY SHOULD BELIEVE ON HIM WHICH SHOULD COME AFTER HIM, THAT IS, ON CHRIST JESUS. 5 When they heard this, they were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus. 6 And when Paul had laid his hands upon them, the Holy Ghost came on them; and they spake with tongues, and prophesied" They claimed to have been baptized unto John's baptism but they wasn't baptized unto John's baptism because John taught that, Matt 3:11, see also Mark 1:8, Luke 3:16, John 1:33 "I indeed baptize you with water unto repentance: but he that cometh after me is mightier than I, whose shoes I am not worthy to bear: he shall baptize you with the Holy Ghost, and with fire:" If they had been baptized after John's baptism they would have known about Jesus Christ and the power and authority He had to baptized not just with water but with fire and the Holy Ghost as Paul affirms. For John taught all in his preaching about Christ and his higher authority he would hold. Paul received and held that same authority Christ held and so he baptized them and laid his hands upon them to give them the Holy Ghost for thus was the promise of God. Hopefully this answers your inquiry 🙏🏽

Very interesting to see that both Islam and LDS started with a supposed meeting with an angel. Both of these religions claim they have the true revelation, both of these say that Jesus is not YHWH and both of these have a "blessed" individual that supposedly translated or written the words of god. (Lower case on purpose) What is also interesting is that the word is clear that the receiver aka satan aka devil masquerade as an angel of light. It's therefore a fascinating that both these false religions then start with an angelic being that helps them to twist and manipulate scripture.

@@CalledtoShare yes but the difference is, it only reminded her of revelation already given. No new revelation was given. It was prophesied from gen3 that a new Adam will come. Same in Acts 10. The angel could not bring the gospel. It could only direct to a person of the way or as we are called Christian. Paul also warned saying that if any creature brings a different gospel they must be condemned. As you were a pastor, you should know that revelation is never a stand alone. Revelation always have two parts, it confirms and or contains the old and then points to something to come. So the onus is on you to show in scripture where it revealed that a new thing will come from an angel and that this angel are not bringing false gospel like Paul and Jesus warned and why this angel has more authority than the angel in Acts ten and why this angel is not Satan masquerading as an agent of light. And The angel told her and Joseph to call him God with us. So that means that Jesus is God, with us.

Same gospel as Jesus taught while on earth.

There is no place for a new gosepl. And yes Mormonism is a new/different gospel. It demotes Jesus to a mere human, it makes us humans to be and become gods (which flies in the face of the Shema) and it steals from Jesus' promise that he will send the Holy Spirit as the final revelation of God.
