So the rage engine is actually original midnight club engine the same engine used in the gta Iv and so on before it was called rage engine or “rockstar advance game engine it was called age engine or angel game engine. Which was the in-house game engine used by angel studios before it was bought out by rockstar and turned into rockstar San Diego. The age engine was used for the following games Midtown madness Smugglers run Smugglers run 2 - Warzone Midnight club street racing Midnight club 2 Midnight club 3 Red dead revolver and this one is important because that introduced the third person to the engine. They primarily used the renderware engine from criterion to make the gta classic trilogy but when ea bought out criterion rockstar couldn’t use the renderware engine anymore which is why the started using the engine that rockstar San Diego (formerly angel studios) had developed. So the part about how Rockstar San Diego was testing out the capabilities of the “new” rage engine at 8:18 so they couldn’t use as many body kits is not true. They just didn’t put as many body kits no one really knows why. But the engine was not new it’s been the same engine that has been used and updated through out the years. That’s right all the red dead’s all the Gta starting with 4 and everything in between like LA noire used the same engine that started all the way back in the late 90s with midtown madness. Which I find pretty cool that it’s now being used for GTA 6 it’s a very old engine again not new at all P.s. So he corrected himself at 30:50 as I continued to watch it.
