so very cool. i run 35mm at home so I can almost relate. it would be so great to be in that booth while its running. film travelling at 360 feet per minute compared to only 90 fpm for 35mm is a beautiful thing to watch.

Watching this now in April 2023, I am so pleased I captured this amazing sequence. All gone now. When the new IMAX opens soon, it will be digital only. Oh and I can't believe 65,000 views! Just incredible. Thank you so much.

It will also be a much smaller screen. Lame

Truly sad that they aren't bringing it back at least as good as it was. Not even sure it will reclaim the World's Largest title.
why is the machinery so far apart and complicated??

I think IMAX uses Hardisk as well as playing his film, like most films in general

nowadays, harddrive aka DCP modes of cinema distribution is seldom used or not used at all when it comes to digital, because, most are replaced by satellite distribution.
@TEDodd11 ай бұрын
IMAX 70mm switched to CD/DVD for audio after years using the 35mm film system for audio shown. An then they started copying the audio from the disc to a hard drive and also used hard drives for distribution. I've seen the DVD used for Interstellar but I'm not sure what Dunkirk and Tenet used. They may have used a network download (satellite based) for those.

This sounds incredible. I wish somebody would put out a CD of the greatest jazz, or, excuse me, "dance music", ever recorded on Electric Diamond Disc.

The actual movie film is not being handled. There's a bunch of clear film called leader attached to the beginning of it, that's what he's threading.
@unrealisticmovies3 жыл бұрын
yeah it might now matter if he gets the leader dirty. Also, there are PTR rollers that clean the film going through the projector AND the projector is cleaned before and after each showing.

Your Amberola 75 is in excellent tune. The governor sounds just fine. The cabinet is not an Edison Project. Did you put in an oversize horn? That would be my reason for finding a bigger cabinet, to take advantage of the room for a much larger horn.

Hello, Mr. Griggs? Would you be willing to post here the serial number of your Schubert Edisonic? I am part of an on-line antique phonograph forum ("The Talking Machine Forum") that is seeking to document as many of these surviving machines as possible.
@classy888810 жыл бұрын
Oh Ralph - sorry, I only just saw your post. The serial number is 6025. It has the original Edisonic Reproducer, which is so LOUD with electric DDs, I use another non-Edisonic! All the best, Ian.

The Music is by John Barry. It is from his score for New York Across the Sea of Time. CD is available. All tracks are great - but the 3D Imax movie was sensational! Hasn't been around for a while. More's the pity. Thanks for the comment.
