Thanks. I love simple down to earth instructions and explanations. Think I'm going to make a couple of these. Stay humble man.

Many years ago, I was glued to watching Dick Proenneke documentary on PBS. Due to life's strange circumstances I came up to Alaska 8 years ago. I didn't have to skills to build my own cabin. But, I did live in a "wet" cabin for 5 years in the outskirt of Fairbanks. While I had running water, it was not drinkable due to high amount of sulfur and other nasty minerals. I had to haul water and heater oil to stay warm in the winter. I'm pretty sure the interior Alaska near Fairbanks is a lot colder than where Proenneke build his cabin. I now live in a warmer part of Alaska. But, memory of Proenneke's colorized films will always stay with me.

The loft is still half finished. I’m in the process of putting a solar charge controller up there. You can get a glimpse of the potato sack wall coverings in a couple of my other videos.

Reuse and repurpose is our future and will help clean up our planet. I'm just worried about what we're going to do with the plastic it's already in our bodies
@bigguyinatinyhouse
@bigguyinatinyhouse 14 күн бұрын
Yes. All the plastic is a problem. But don’t worry about it too much. Things are almost never as dire as they seem. … Then just when you least expect it a solution will present itself.

Great video, however having had a career in architecture, one of the first things you learn is the fact that any triangle design has the greatest amount of building material with the least amount of interior space. That is why 'A' frame structures have the least amount of interior space for it's size. A circle design has the greatest amount of interior space for the least amount of exterior walls. It would be great to see you do a circle design! Thanks for your video.
@bigguyinatinyhouse
@bigguyinatinyhouse 19 күн бұрын
… but the angles make A-frames LOOK so darn cool! 😎 I’ve actually been contemplating someday doing an Earthbag structure, which lends itself to a circular design.

Because I have no ability such as your amazing talent, I ended up with a mess-some "contractor" put together it is like living in a tent, camping but it is a "house" and no one is having any fun. What you have done is something to be so proud of, if they had not stolen our life savings I would ask to buy one from you-lol, God Bless.

So sorry to hear about your negative experience. God has a strange way of giving us what we need, rather than what we want or expect. I hope the purpose behind your misfortune becomes apparent sooner rather than later. In the meantime I’ll try sending some good vibes your way.

I was stationed at NAS Kodiak in 1961&1962 at Marine Barracks as a MP Guard . Dick worked there . I met another gentleman there and just knew him as Jake the trapper . He guarded a herd of Scottish High landers to protect them from bears just south of the base .. l really enjoyed his company and food . He lived in a cabin with a food cashe on stilts next to the cabin . I would always stop to visit him on my way to Saltry Cove to fish . He seems to always have a beaver stew cooking . It was a beautiful experience for me at 20 years old .
