Well, a far cry from the Mountain Mahogany I was thinking of, which is why I tuned in. Cercocarpus ledifolius was what I was expecting. It is heavy enough to sink in water, and hardness like Desert Ironwood. Got a bunch some years back. It was growing at 8500 feet just north of Las Vegas. I was wondering if it was even possible to split that stuff because of the hardness and the totally twisted grain. Not what you have, not even close.

Are those chainsaw safety pants? Why not keep that helmet on when in work/falling area? Bailey's nail best! Control tape rewind with fingers. If you cut 1000s and mark logs in woods you get very proficient with tape. Saves time. They are expensive and somewhat fragile.

I did change up my logger tape tension and the Bailey nail end. As for the pants, no I don’t wear protective pants. I find them very awkward and uncomfortable. I know I am in the minority but it is my decision.

What do you think of the Husky light bars? Been looking at a 24 but don't know anyone personally that runs them. Do they flex a lot like for bore cutting trees? Pat from northwest WI
@woodruffwoods
@woodruffwoods 4 ай бұрын
Pat, I don’t find the flex in them to be an issue. I have another Sugi bar and love it. The ones that Timber Kutter Patriot runs are really good too but I can’t think of the name. The light bars are noticeable on the bigger saws. The 28 inch on the 592 made a pretty big difference with fatigue.

You got that right! I am legal to 25,300 pounds in combination but I just don't want any hassle. It is absolutely ridiculous that they target pickups and dump trailers. The 26,000 pound rule has been around since the early 90's but let's face it, the trucks today can safely handle more than that.

🤢. Brother in-law took me to some march madness games in Syracuse. Went to an Irish pub to eat and ordered my one and only Guinness. Took a couple sips and couldn't give the rest away. Brush 🤢🤢🤬🤬 another reason to love the down dead ash woods. Working on field cleanup now. Lot to push w tractor and blade. That's a nice score, great idea pulling it over first. Shame it went down for no apparent reason. Darn high winds

Hello Mr. WoodRuff, That is a whole lot of prime hardwood, what little rot will not hurt your volume too much, I bet there are 100 bundles or so in that monster.
@woodruffwoods
@woodruffwoods 4 ай бұрын
The rot was really isolated to that one branch. The rest of the tree was perfect. I estimate 3 cord from this tree and if I am correct that is 500 .75 cu feet bundles. However, I am going to be greedy with this tree and fill my personal supply.
