The causes of homelessness are many and varied. No fault evictions, gambling addictions, alcoholism,drug addictions, criminal records, being kicked out of the care system, mental health issues, domestic violence, sexual abuse to name some of the reasons people become street homeless. There used to be refuges. There used to be mental health services. But these were so underfunded that refuges largely no longer exist, and mental health services cannot cope with everybody who needs it. Banning no fault evictions would be a step forward. But losing a job and falling behind on the rent as a result, is another reason people become homeless. Ensuring that employment cannot disappear on the whim of an employer , rent capping to prevent the unfettered greed of landlords, and ensuring that pay increases each year, would prevent that happening. Having an NHS that hasn't been destroyed would be a way forward. I would also point out that in order to claim benefits, you have to wait five weeks before getting not enough to live on.This causes people to fall behind on their rent. The cost of living crisis caused by the Tories has impacted both poverty in the UK and helped propel people into homelessness. And there are well over 3 milliion homeless people. You did not mention those that are reduced to sofa surfing because they have nowhere to live. Blaming homeless people for being homeless is both unhelpful and unfair.

Im living in a Homeless Hostel its 400 pound a Week Housing Benefit and 100 pound Service Charge a Month for a Tiny Dirty Room .......Theres no Food the Rooms are Dirty ie Carpets etc i caught an Infection ie Empitigo from the Hostel and also Caught Loba Pneumonia and an infection on my lungs the place is a shit hole to be Honest .Ive never been so ill since i was placed in this Hostel.......Sometimes i think id rather be on the streets .

I have visited this area many times. It's just a low-income neighbourhood with lots of cheap eateries and hotels which are popular among foreign tourists. You can't call it a slum.
