A few questions if you don’t mind, I’m relatively new to all of this. Does it matter which year of growth you air layer? Like, if I recall fruit only grows on 1st year canes, so do you layer the second year/ previous years nodes? Or do you layer 1st year/ new growth canes? I guess what I’m asking is does the year of growth matter or can you air layer any section of growth? I would assume layering at least 2nd-3rd year canes would root better because they don’t produce fruiting bodies but fruiting stalks, and you are less likely to damage the xylem. Moreover, they are more concentrated with differential cells that can convert into root growth. But as long as there are leaves producing sugars, the nodes on any year growth should be able to layer be cause leaves provide root growth and root growth stimulates plant growth. It appears the one in the video is 1st year growth but it’s hard to tell if the layered section is from the nodes of the previous year, or the new years growth. Maybe it doesn’t matter wether there is fruit on the layer or not but nutrient supply is cut off to the fruit until more roots can grow (that’s if you girdle the stalk) leaves don’t feed the fruit the roots do, but perhaps I don’t understand something quite right. Very new to all of this. How did you prepare your air layer?

just in 3 days the roots grow? i think you made a mistake in regard to that time. it is impossiblr such a development in that interval.

You're missing the most important part which was preping the graft site, was it a wedge cut or did you just do a bark graft and peeled the bark off to expose cambium.
