It's also boring if there are too many shots, the movie ends and you can't remember a single one. A movie that feels just like a fast succession of close ups is annoying to watch. So what you are saying works well for dialogue scenes like the one you took as an example, but you also need variety. Some scenes, for example, can be covered with just one single shot, and it's the director's job to make that shot interseting enough so the audience doesn't get bored.

The display on the knob si SOOOOO BAD! The delay is HUGE. I pull focus, and is reacts after 2-3 seconds. Or is mine broken?

I was just on ST5 set. Their BTS was a c500 and the lens i swear was the size of my thigh. Huge. I just started getting unto this since i have gone the retired route. Its WILD to me just how much goes into their scenes its crazy. Great recreation. Really enjoy your videos. Good stuff.

After using this 2600nit monitor few a few years now I will never use anything less than 2600nut. It's just so good in bright sunlight! Yes, I know this video is from 2021 but it's still a great monitor in 2024.

Hey there! Sorry you thought that, but I SIRUI paid me no money, nor did they see the video until after it was uploaded. I always put the sponsored tag on any videos where a company sends me equipment to test. If a brand does pay me or compensates me in any way, I always front load the video/livestream with that information. I appreciate your concern and honesty 🙏

What’s the max fps viewable on the screen? Can you load 2 LUTs at the same time, as commonly you’d have Rec. 709 + creative LUT?

I'm fairly disappointed with the monitor. I feel like I had to fiddle around with the colors and brightness / contrast a lot until it more closely resembled what I see on my FX6 monitor and even still it's not that accurate. My biggest gripe, though, is that highlights will literally burn away on this monitor while I can still see them on my FX6 monitor. Really don't know if I'm using this thing wrong or if something is up with my unit or that's just how cheap monitors are.

If you are using preview luts in monitor, those are displayed in 8-bit so it’s definitely a crunchy image. This is true with most production monitors until you get to the more industry standard stuff

@@garrettsammons Thanks for your answer! I've got the LUTs installed in-camera, so the monitor gets the 1:1 feed from my FX6. I supposed this is the "cleanest" process, am I mistaken?

The same. It was not possible to manually calibrate the color. Preset 6500 is too warm and green. 9300 is more normal, but I would like to make it slightly warmer, which is impossible. In general, I decided that it was just a bright monitor that should not be trusted.

LMAO! It definitely can be. Lenses though are artistically measured on a scale of clinical to character. Most high-end, expensive, cinema lenses are sold due to their unique and specific characteristics, even if they aren’t clinically perfect. Cooke is a great example of that kind of brand.

If you’re hot swapping, you’re never losing power, so SDI protocol doesn’t need to happen.
