A windy, haunting moment with two crosses and a deep, dark valley. His eerie sentences saying he wants to kill Marlene to be with her mom and sister and then committing suicide. A man with nothing left in life and he is ashamed to meet his only daughter because how he looks now and what he did. This is a masterpiece.

Hum i am wondering about 1 point, the cloud's "cherished" moment was when he went to tifa's bedroom when her mother died and they went to Nibel mount (moment Tifa didnt remember at all in the OG). But in Rebirth, when Tifa fell into the lifestream, she saw this scene and had a conversation about it with Cloud in Kalm... Aww I hope they wont take this point out Cloud life stream moment because i find it quite important... But as Tifa is aware about it in the remake i really wonder how they will show it. Also, i am quite sad to see how some people devalue Tifa's role in FF7 just to put Aerith forward more... But this scene shows how important she is in the game.

oh I’m interested to see what they would do after everything in chapter 9 but yeah people who don’t understand the importance of tifa are either haters or people who never played the og
@gatorssbm5 күн бұрын
Feel the main issue is that she doesnt really do much up until after this scene at least in the original, granted what Aerith also does is less obvious but they make it much more apparent and even shift some of Cloud mannerisms in remake to show how hes influenced. Both the characters really needed just a bit more in the plot or character development but seems Aerith has taken the focus probably because shes out of the picture for part 3. I feel they gave Tifa part of the memories here to also give her a decent part into having both her and Cloud trust each other because at the start of Rebirth their relationship is very shaky with each other, but hell I hope they do this scene justice. I fear they might convolute it with the Zack subplot and make it less emotional, this is the #1 scene they have to get right if Id want to recommend the remake to anyone over the OG but Cloud has already recalled Zack earlier which implies already this will play out differently.

People argue that Rebirth ruined the drama. How? Dyne killing himself on his own rather then Shinra mowing him down? That's open for debate. That notion of him wanting Marlene to "join him" in reuniting with Eleanor was pretty disturbing and I'm glad they changed it. Rebirth did a fine job portraying how much he cared for his daughter; he didn't want her to see what he's become but still accused Barrett of "taking her away from me".

If you're reading this in 2024... The new games, they might be future Cloud reliving his past in the lifestream as an unreliable narrator. The rainbows, the different "worlds" created as Cloud invents them to deal with trauma. We will see what happens when Tifa (whom also saw a different type of Cloud at the end in Rebirth) saves him in the 3rd act. But right now, it's not "omni-Aerith", it's Cloud dealing with his past and we are reliving it.

What I love the most about this is that it showed that the imposter Cloud (the cool, badass , “strong” one) wasn’t strong enough to beat Sephiroth, but the real Cloud (the dorky, awkward, “weak” one) always was.

As simple as this version was, Dyne's death is far more impactful here. Instead of being (bloodlessly) mowed down by random shinra forces like in Rebirth, Dyne taking his own life here hits way harder because he's realizing he has no place in the lives he was once a part of, and he can't live with himself knowing how Marlene would react to him and what he's done since Barret last saw him. The Rebirth one, like so many of its redone scenes, gets too caught up in the sweeping melodrama and I actually think the overwhelming music they used for the scene was just way too much. The more heavyhanded they are with scenes like this, the more it actually pulls me out of the moment and makes me care less about the character involved. It also doesn't help that Dyne basically cursed/blamed Barret all the way to the end in the Rebirth version, while here he finally looked inward and realized his mistakes. There's a chilling vibe to this scene here specifically because of the lack of music... just the wind and the silence after a once-good man ends it all out of despair. Sometimes less really is more.
@islandboy93812 ай бұрын
I also don't understand why people consider the Rebirth version darker than the OG when here Dyne literally says the most disturbing line in the game that he's gonna take Marlene to the same place as his wife and of course the cold suicide where Barrett gets zero chance to actually have parting words with Dyne and it makes his breakdown that more messed up. Meanwhile Rebirth's ''darker'' version has Dyne being perfectly able to say parting words to Barrett right before dying, Pauler immediately running in after Barett cries and do some dumbass twerk dance and Dio doing macho man flexes near Dyne's corpse.... ok
@QuiksilverX72 ай бұрын
I think the the rebirth scene was awesome! The music definitely hit the right notes and help with the atmosphere. In the original the generic battle theme took me out of the scene, i believe the battle should of had a sorrowful background to enhance the experience.
@eji2 ай бұрын
@@QuiksilverX7 unique music during the battle in OG would've been nice, yes, but I think rebirth's music during his death was far too melodramatic for my taste
@QuiksilverX72 ай бұрын
@@eji That’s fair. I do also appreciate the original lack of music. It certainly gave off feelings of “emptiness”. Which shows how hollow of a person Dyne had become.
@michaelsneddon4300Ай бұрын
@eji Eh just sounds like a lack of taste, everything you said about this old scene still holds in rebirth, just becuase dyne doesn’t spell out his realization like he does here, you can see him start to realize everything and even how he knocks Barrett aside and guns down the troops coming, and tells Barrett to “carry that weight, that guilt” you can feel is his twisted minds way to telling him to keep living
