Delightful programme Especially the Lady with the brom font hairstyle, I decided to download this and watch it in black & white as my great great great grandparents would have watched it back in 1900 & seventy one, Then I watched it Again in Colour

Jolly interesting. Although it has to be said that the Beatles were not from Birmingham! Fine harp playing, faulty accent 😕

I remember when this song came out. I always thought it was a masterpiece in terms of lyrics, the sad story it told, and the great musicianship behind the song itself. Thanks for introducing us to the wonderful lady behind the beautifully played harp in this classic Beatles song.

She was not just part on "a" Beatles record, Sgt Pepper will be heard in 200 years, just like we still listen to Mozart now.

Paul requested a French horn on his great For No One. Also on a first take “Paul didn’t realise how brilliantly Alan Civil was doing. We got the definitive performance, and Paul said, ‘Well, OK, I think you can do it better than that, can’t you, Alan?’ Alan nearly exploded. Of course, he didn’t do it better than that, and the way we’d already heard it was the way you hear it now.” George Martin

When I hear this sing, I think of my birthmother in Ireland, who was sent away from her home for an orphanage and gave birth to me and my twin sister.

Underpaid for such a crucial element of the song but not a shred of bitterness in her. Class act.

She was lucky !. When the professional French Horn players were kept back well into Musicians Union overtime money they were not paid any of what was owed them. When they complained they were told by Lennon and McCartney it was because "working with the Beatles should be reward enough". Not just hugely wealthy, but mean as well. To my delight, when they rocked up at my village pub in a psychedelically painted Rolls Royce the landlady refused to serve them and told them to get their "hideous" car out of her car park.

What a talented lady. None of the Beatles could actually read music, unlike the lady here or producer George Martin. Proof that the abilities of those in making the album was absolutely first class, using all the possible techniques and instruments available, which were strictly limited, compared to nowadays.

The music those four guys put together in just seven years is something not of this world. I don't mean that in the supernatural but spiritual sense. What happened to them was no accident. How these four specific guys came together and did what they did again in just seven years is something that truly makes you believe that God exist. Their talents were truly a gift.
