OK I tried to tank last night..... can anyone explain the LOS issue with stairs so I can better understand it... I guess I would SS and then pom blast on stairs...but seemed to be line of site... I see most people SSing before stairs but can still AB on stairs.... I was going from just left near the post

I still don't see any advantage in using this "strategy". When i'm tanking the mage "regularly" i can also be used to counterspell the priest and dmg the paladin. I.e. i am a regular DD. is it only to prevent people from dying to Flamestrike & Blizzard?

it just removes FS and blizzard from raid and those 2 things are what kills the raid so removing FS or even cutting them down 80% makes the fight brain dead kick kick switch

Yeah its really just to limit the amount of AOE spells being cast on the raid. You sacrifice the damage of one full mage, but theoretically gain more back by having the rest of the raid need to move much much less and in an imperfect world, limit the deaths that should be avoided in the first place. It’s also much lower damage being caused by the arcane bolts, so frees up more healer time for raid heals.

@@6danlor thank you. I just did this strat on my mage for my guild and I noticed that although I keep him mobile most of the time, he stills seems to get off a few flame strikes. Is this still intended to happen because I was under the impression that so long as he keeps chasing you he won’t cast it.

Just rocking the regular gear set, only changing things to ensure I was hit capped without shamans nearby.

Wow. This was amazing to watch. As you did the casts I could "feel" the movements on the keyboard as if I was playing, LOL. But I did learn some 15-year-long answers on how to do a couple casts (shame that I quit in 2004!) I remember when I cast I used to start, slide a little, but spend most of the time running forward. Whereas you stayed mainly horizontal. That's how my casting style caught them off guard. They saw me running toward them as a lightning bolt came out of my steps. (I won me a few good 1v3, but nowhere to be ultra competitive.) Anyway, thank you for sharing this. I have a feeling I'll be watching this many more times in the next 10 years :-)
