Man , all those demo jobs look overwhelming!! ( what a mess! ) lol , Hey Dale, How much of those Amazonian green poles do you think you guys will be able to salvage ? And do you have a rough idea of when they may be ready at the Rec yard ? I just might have to make the trip over to grab some of them ! Hopefully you can salvage a few to use as pilings ! Man I would think those will make some top quality rec poles !! Let me know if you get a chance please 👍 Great work as always!! ✌🏼

Hey Britt, yes we have salvage probably about 600 of them so far and probably have another 500 to go. I purchased a sawmill and now I am mailing them up into Good lumber. This stuff is very heavy 90 pounds per cubic foot density of 3000 psi You can see what we have in stock on my wife’s Facebook page if you like. facebook.com/Hickmansreclaimeddockwoodforsale/

Absolutely. My pleasure. I used to a lot of marine construction in Miami. And to be honest I'm impressed with the amount of work you can do with that little 308. And the greenheart are very heavy. Id say anywhere fro 80 to 100 lbs a linear foot. But they're definitely superior to a cca pile because of the natural oils that inhibit marine growth. But they definitely cost some $$$.

Man! those caterpillars equipment are sexy as hell but they're also expensive..... You can get a bigger machine such as a Sany, Yanmar, hell even bobcat for the price of a cat 308.... But it is true that a cat is a sexy machine, if I was a machine looking to marry, caterpillar 308 would be my wife.... I would have hit on the 310 but that will be too much of a machine so I would settle with the 308

These guys do good jobs..... I see they use a 4 ×4 on the retaining wall instead of the green telephone poles, I wonder if it was for cost. early 90s after hurricane Andrew swept through South Florida I was working next to an FPL lineman crew and he made the comment that one of those green poles are 600.00 a piece.... I was going to run over some polls that was in the way... And I made the comment dude ask the only way to get around to the other side if the pole breaks so be it..... That he said no man Apple 600 bucks I don't want to hear from the people at the top don't break it...... I was shocked add the cost of those green poles

Thanks for your comment and question. The 4 x 4‘s are just temporary supports to hold the wailer up if it’s a conventional non-naval style wall where we typically use pilings.

What's the rule of thumb on The driven depth in sand?
@DaleWHickman
@DaleWHickman 12 күн бұрын
Thanks for your comment and question. Soil conditions and water depth have a lot to do with the proper penetration of my docs in a Sandy situation. We like to get a minimum of eight, but I do prefer 10 as far as the minimum I would say six, but I do like 8’ that.
@guidocasero1178
@guidocasero1178 19 күн бұрын
These guys do good work.... I always wondered how long equipment lasts for the Marine companies under those harsh conditions. It must be expensive as hell to build docks and seawall because if you have to replace your equipment every 6 to 7 years and the caterpillar 308 it's about $170,000 that is not pocket change.... I've been to auctions and you can tell the equipment that was used by the Marine companies... Because they're all rotten to hell.... Marine companies most least their equipments

Amazing videos with detail! From all the sea walls I’ve seen you build, how come concrete caps are almost never used?
@DaleWHickman
@DaleWHickman 12 күн бұрын
Thanks for your comment and question. Concrete; caps really increases the cost of the seawall. It makes it hard to be competitive with some of the smaller contractors in the area. Most people just really don’t care for it. They like the synthetic top cap which allows a good pressure release during storms with the gaps in between the deck.
