I found Dressage Institute by fluke on the internet as I was desperate to learn and find a course that would fill in the gaps ..riding lessons, clinics were not working or effective leaving me frustrated and wondering what I had paid for. I needed a foundation to start from and step by step progression aligned with what to expect in dressage tests to continue advancing through the levels.. this is what Alecia and Natasha has given me by providing the opportunity to join the online Dressage Institute and take part in the many courses in DI.. I never regretted a single moment…have learned so much ..more than I thought possible and keep going back to review over and over. I’ve put this knowledge to practise and for the first time in months I have her on the bit from balanced reins, good seat position and several other key ingredients learned at DI.. I love the philosophy you both are instilling in the sport and to each of us, you inspire me , KEEP IT GOING ..♥️DI

I’ve been doing the DI Dressage Institute and DM Dressage Mastery online programs for over five years, I highly recommend the programs. Alicia and Natasha have put together a program that works. You can go at your own pace and level. They help you at the level you are at. Alicia has taken her life experience and has turned it into a program that works. Watch her programs on You Tube, you are going to learn something with each video. If you like what you see go to Dressage Institute and check it out. If you like to learn you will enjoy this program. This is an important video, they bring up some facts about the industry that need to be addressed. Love your programs and videos! What you Alicia/Natasha are doing to help change the industry is earth shattering. Keep shaking things up!❤️

Alicia, new to your channel but you have such an amazing way of clearly explaining the scales of training. There are so many different tests within the levels of dressage. At the lowest levels of dressage e.g walk & trot test, preliminary, novice I don't understand what the judges are looking for. Also why do judges give a mark but no comment. How do you know when your horse is ready to go to the next level or the next test within a level. If that makes sense.

The more I learn about dressage (and I am a generalist) the more I realize that a lot of the misunderstandings are the result of poor translation from the German cavalry’s manual into English. But, as an economist, I agree specialists love to use technical jargon to discuss simple (but not easy) things because it makes them feel ‘special’.

I’ve been riding for two years and I still cannot get my horse on the bit 😢 I do the suppling exercises, but nothing works. What am I doing wrong what’s the secret? I absolutely do not understand how to do it! My horse will get on the bit for my Trainer, but never for me. I am so lost and ready to give up.

It's always good to go over things again. Half Holt is one of those things that is a very strange term for confused people, but you have to be an Equestrian to understand the meaning. Very well explained

Thing is (as a shorty) - finding a dressage saddle that supports this vertical, balanced position is the real challenge (on an ordinary budget). Kneblocks too long, puts you in a chair seat, the feeling of "all saddle and leather and NO horse on the inside from of your leg from yours thighs to your calves" etc. It is a problem fitting a saddle to the horse that also fits the short legged rider.

I am literally teary-eyed right now! I’m 37 years old and have been riding horses since I was about 8. always hacking and just for fun. 6 years ago I started focusing on dressage. Me and my horse have been learning together, just by pushing buttons and testing out what works and what doesn’t, no trainers. Every single person who has tried to explain half halt to me, has made it sound like I should act like I’m preparing to halt, before pushing the horse forward, and I’ve been so lost and so mad at myself for not being able to do that. This bridge analogy made me feel every single movement and adjustment in my whole body, like I was actually there, and made me realize I’ve been doing half halts all my life! I have unknowingly done the actual half halt BEFORE trying to do the half halt everyone has said I should do! In other words, I’ve been adding a whole extra step and been beating myself up for years for not getting it. Like I said. I’m teary-eyed. You just saved me from my biggest hurdle as a rider. Thank you!❤️

I do halfhalts more in walk than trott because the pony is less engaged in walk and need to know we are still working and heading somewhere 😹👍 I feel like the thights is more used in halfhalts people often say to not thighten there because it can block you and the horse, but if you can control it then it's easier to straighten and bend the horse in my opinion 💖 in the end I can make the horse wait and take the horse more upp and open, change direction or bend with my thights alone, that dosen't mean I'm always thightening or anything it means I'm changing the horse balance/position by using halfhalts 😸

I have a classical dressage background, that implies a lot of lateral movements 😉and what Alicia is teaching it's the most accurate way to solve the issues. Thank you dear Alicia for bringing this explanations available to everyone who is willing to learn properly 🤗
