Excellent photos! I told myself that I'm only a hobbyist and shouldn't make such purchases...so I've been on the fence for a while now, I'm currently rocking the A7iii. Keep up the great work and looking forwards to seeing more of your content!

Great video, so refreshing to hear honest thoughts not influenced by sponsors who have supplied the camera. I am thinking about getting an A7Rv but worried that the file size will be too much of an hindrance, what computer do you use edit your images and do you regret the large file size. I hope you continue making videos, you now have another subscriber

Thought my spotify randomly started when I heard l'imperatrice in the background haha, Nice vid. I was considering the r V because of its autofocus, stabilisation and super 35 crop but decided to hold out for the a7 V because I dont fancy spending 2-3k on a previous generation sensor,

I understand you when you say it’s really cool using the apple pencil and your fingers to interact with your photos. It brings out that human element Apple is so keen on bringing out. I use my M1 iPad Pro and use touch for the majority of the time using it. It feels so natural and everything is elastic. The giant 13’ screen can turn into a full size keyboard, a number pad for spreadsheets, piano, guitar, game controller for games, sit down outside and read a book, scroll 📜 a book on Apple Books or turn the virtual page. I bring it with me everywhere I go. I take notes and drag images into notability. I’m learning cursive handwriting and calligraphy. It’s awesome.

Also a hobbyist and am looking at the RV mainly for the focus bracketing which would really help with landscape and macro. RV is the only Sony camera that has that. I think it will be a good combo with my A7IV.

The real issues is that all the accessories are not compatible so you need to rebuy the keyboard and stylus and this is a 450-500€ additional so 2500€ for the upgrade. That is a very expensive update.
@SeanJureckyАй бұрын
That is very true, I never have used the Magic Keyboard or anything and all of ever used is the pencil but it is an expensive update for someone who uses all the iPad accessories

Welcome in 2012. I choose hybrids back then exactly to be able to edit photo in Lightroom and then in Capture One Pro on a tablet (with pen to draw mask and move sliders precisely). Strange as a photographer to not have wanted to use a tablet since the last 10 years and force yourself to do it on a Mac. Tha tis quite serious limitations without much benefit...

I think it is important to point out the use cases and proficiency level in Photography. The A7R series is pretty epic but certainly has some flaws. For landscape/portrait/studio photography, this thing is a beast - especially paired with some high quality glass. For a hobbyist, I'd even recommend looking at the A7CR instead - saving $900 on features that aren't really needed unless you are a pro or just have the money to spend on it. It isn't ideal for certain video workflows, especially if you need 4K60 or need a full readout of the sensor (no crop). Even those really wanting this for 8K might want to consider other options depending on requirements. It's a nice feature, but has some pretty significant restrictions. I was considering the A7CR but opted for the full body since Sony had a special making the A7RV "only" $500 more expensive than the A7CR - although I really like the travel size (the grip actually fits my hands decently). Not a pro by any means, just been a hobby for over 20 years. Certainly not the best in low light, but I'm still trying to figure out how to get the most out of it.

Not taking away on the iPad's, but even though it is has m4 chips what ever power they have the apps for my just don't work. Mouse support is awful, trackpad is okay. I would take less powerful chip on MacOS any day over an iPad.

The power is used in lightroom, photoshop and resolve, also who cares about a mouse and trackpad on a touchscreen device?

WoW ! H@ppy Birthd@y Young-man! Thank you for sharing your thoughts. I haven't had experience of those M-series CPUs in either iPads or MacBooks. Currently, I'm still using the A12 iPad Pro for casual photo editing. I'm also interested in tryout the latest M4 iPad Pro to edit my Sony A7RV. I suspected that M4 CPU do give a "speed-bump" of photo-editing process when compared to previous M3/M2/M1. Wondering, does M4 iPad Pro's RAM configuration also need to be maximized in order to beneficial the overall photo-editing performance? Also, Sony A7RV's RAW or JPEG are relatively huge, does M4 iPad Pro's capacity able to handle it properly and smoothly? Thanks.
@SeanJureckyАй бұрын
Thank you 🙂 So far it has been able to handle anything I throw at it and even when I edited photos from my A7RV on my older iPad, the new one definitely has a difference. I plan on making an updated review in a few months since I will have used it extensively by then.

Full frame is tough. The Z8 is too big and heavy. The Canon's are too expensive. Lumix, is too niche. That leaves Sony. Up until the A7rV iteration they have had a lot of holes in their designs and programming. Finally the A7Rv checks all the boxes. It's the goldilocks camera for me. Not too big, not too heavy, not too expensive (on sale,) good customization, great screens: articulation and resolution, great image quality, very usable video for the vlogger, etc. Cheap really high quality lenses. The Sony/Zeiss 24-70 F4 is now made in Japan and is outstanding. Sony really upped the QC on that one, it's a superb lens for the money now, $700 usd on sale. Thumbs up for Scooby... 🙂🐕

@@humanfirst11 No I won't. The A7RV is a mature product. The A7Riv and the A7Riii before it really had some big issues. Crap menus and features that were missing that I needed/wanted More than a flip screen was a big one... The A7RV isn't missing anything that I need.

Got the shoe mount that you have for the 100-400mm on my Sony 70-200mm 2.8 ii and also on my Sony 200-600mm decided to go with them two lenses instead of the 100-400mm and I also got the 1.4 and the 2x converters and find them to be a really great set up for wildlife and picked up the Viltrox 16mm 1.8 for the northern lights here in Alaska
