According to more mature friends who go on dates, one of the first questions now is, "Do you own your own house?"

Ahh takes me back to last June when I was in Perth for a week. Such a nice great city, not the lights and sounds of Sydney or Melbourne, more easier relaxed pace 😃

The Ford Capri in Australia was a convertible built on the chassis, engine and running gear of The Mazda 323 or Ford Laser as built and designed by Ford Australia. They were built in the Broadmeadows plant with the Falcon. In the UK I had a Ford Capri Mark 1face lifted model. It had the 1600 Pinto engine. It was a copper colour with a tan vinyl roof. It was my second car. I had a Ford Cortina Mk 1 1200cc as my very first car. I pulled it apart and rebuilt it completely over time.

Motorbike and sidecar? We’ve got an outfit comprising a 2019 Royal Enfield Interceptor and Watsonian Grand Prix sidecar. Of course they are legal and if you have never driven one you are missing out on a lot of fun!

I visited the Gaydon museum once. I was in a car club where we all got to take our cars around their Rover/Jag test circuit, which was like a 4 lane motorway. They had some cracking machines in there.

There will be a place for ALL EVs to be collected in the future... It's not called a museum, it's called a landfill.

I remember the cheerful music they used to talk over on those Pathe News programs, it was the same no matter what they were reporting on ... "The Formula One teams headed to Italy this weekend for the Grand Prix of Monza" .. dee dee de dee di dee di dee ... "Von Tripps is killed" ... dee di dee di dee dee dee ... Some things have improved.

You can't blame the cafe. Look how the price of everything has rocketed, over the past few years...the owners have to make a profit, or it wouldn't be worth opening.

I spoke to a guy yesterday who works for Mercedes and what's coming for electric cars is mind blowing. There batteries will last 10x to what they are now and will be used as house storage batteries if you can generate electric via solar. in 10 years time it will be insane he said.

The problem with modern vehicle design, especially with the EV focus: Their first consideration is building around the big slab of the battery, lifts everything up higher, so the SUV fits that modelling perfectly. After that, there's no need for a significant nose on a vehicle, other than space for legs and space for a crumple zone to be safe. Leaves very little room to add design flair when you've ended up with a box on wheels and you're trying to make it as aerodynamic as possible...

Not to mention pedestrian safety. But they could still have character within those limitations.

Out of interest we had your mk2 and mk3 cortinas here in Oz fitted with an optional 3.3 or 4.1 ltre straight six. Lethal in a straight line. Grandfather had a 4.1 TD cortina wagon was his pride and joy until he eventually traded it on a Nissan Bluebird because of the fuel crisis.

11:00 Motor transport was always expensive. In the 50s it was more common for a working man to start out with a motorcycle and continue with that as a couple. When the first child came along, it was still cheaper to add a sidecar modification, if possible, vs the expense of a car. A car could often be postponed until the third child came along.

Alternatively, you could hitch a Canterbury Carmobile 3 seater sidecar onto your bike. We had a Carmobile attached to 650 Panther back in the 1980’s. Wife and two girls in the chair and me out in the pouring rain!

Modern car design is basically "androgynous" . You have to look hard to see what make a car is because they all look similar. Years ago, you could tell just at a glance
