I'm sorry but the way Elly uses his intuition to run the bases aggressively absolutely counts as "Baseball IQ" even if he occasionally gets cut down and looks like a doofus. The thing about Elly that I admire the most and what sets him apart from all the other ballplayers I've seen lately is how deeply he attends to every action when he is on the basepaths, the prime example is the steal of home base last year vs. MIL. When he reaches base he is constantly calculating how he can take bases and I think thats a pure, old-school, and beautiful way to play baseball. The way he hits is pretty good too 😂
