I like your approach to training. I’m a 39 year old brown belt. My whole game has evolved to a slower, pressure based style since I don’t move too well but am larger and stronger than most people I train with. Keep up the good work.

ill throw a few pointers for the osoto based on 3:50 1. so you wana be leaning their weight over the leg that your gonna reep, if the weights not mainly on this foot they can lift it off and step off. 2. you need to be stepping in with your left foot first, and not reaching with your right foot, you will be countered by them taking a step backand around at the same time and them doing osoto back to you. 3. you want your left hand to be gripping higher up the sleeve just under their elbow this allows more control. 3. your right hand is far to low, you want a higher collar grip with your thumb in and as you do the throw youc an let your hand ride up and around driving their head which helps off balance or you flare your elbow out. 4. the leg doesnt get placed on the mat, it swigs up first with pointed toes and swings all the way back through, you should end up standing on one leg leaning forward with your right foot up in the air ideally past 90degrees. 5. you shoudl have much closer hip to hip position. another option is to look up Ken ken osoto gari which you may find easier. personally id stop drilling this for now as your memorizing a lot of bad habits and wait until you can get a Judo guy to show you hands on. (im a 2nd Dan Judo and BJJ purple)

There is always that “one guy” in every dojo. I get it though, BJJ can be a very humbling art because it’s so personal and it’s hard to get humbled by another man. BJJ is and always will be about positioning and control over strength and speed. When these new white belts understand that then it usually starts to click in.

Man the whole not going to hurt me deal is so relevant, I'm 56, 6'2" 270lbs, wrestling background and do well at comps with guys my age as a blue belt, I started at 53. The guys that hurt me are the young spassy white belts going after explosive but BAD attempts at various neck attacks (I have 2 herniated disks in my neck) or bad takedowns. My default with a new young person is take down quickly and hold them down as I don't trust them. When I get to roll with another person and swap positions and enjoy the movement it's such a HUGE relief and sense of enjoyment.
@mtxpert
@mtxpert 5 күн бұрын
OK I watched the full video and the thing you're missing is hip pressure. The pass from the knee shield is to push it down then get your chest on top if it and then collapse the top leg, you can even act is if you're doing a double leg there to help collapse it, chest on top, weight on our chest and your toes. Most of the time you're not using your body weight, even against the heavier opponent. Learning how to apply pressure like a wrestler is such a crucial game changer.
