@1:13 My blackwater tank looked like that for a month & then a month later, it completely cleared up. It was a stubborn, nasty bastard until it became my snail & shrimp tank. ^^; My other tank looks nothing like that & yet I can't keep the nitrates/ites in check despite 2x weekly, 50% changes & the other parameters being perfect... 🤬 The tank personality struggle is real!

Have you ever had an issue with bettas jumping out of an aquarium? I heard from many people who say that it's dangerous to keep them in an aquarium without a lid. (I want to build a nice little betta-scape myself, but I'm a bit scared) As always great scape and great video! I'm loving your videos since you had about 5k subs. Props to the growth in content and quality since then! :)

if anyone have this problem just replace the rubber rings, they crack with time and allow small amounts of air in, they are not meant to last forever. my guess is that they used cheap ones.

I use Fluval for my plant cuttings. When I want to propagate some, I'll keep them in water until I see roots forming. After that, I add 1-2 TBSP. Never had algae issues.

Keep up the good work!

As much as you tried to keep things fair i think you went into this from an aquasoil point of view, everything from the depth of aquasoil versus soil, using gravel instead of sand and most importantly doinf water changes on the dirted tank just because the aquasoil need it. Perhaps would have been a better test if you just did the recommended method for both types instead of trying to treat them identically but to suit the aquasoil

And you sit perfectly in between guys like MD and the guys of Green Aqua. Helping and inspiring beginners to step up their game. Good luck in your new studio and new adventures.

So, the plants actually need co2 to turn down the ph of the water? That's why we need co2 for the plants to grow?

I have a question, when you first planting the plants, it's green because it's emersed or they just come like that? And do you re-plant them to remove the green leaves or just trim the top part?
