Do you not have flaps set up on your model? Didn't look like you used them for catches? I have the heavy layup model and love it, looked like a lot of sink that day other than a couple bubbles you found to maintain altitude for a few seconds. Your launches looked so effortless yet still put it up pretty decently. Thermal mode looked like it was not tuned very well, hopefully you've got it sorted out by now. Nicely done New sub

If I didn’t in this video I do now. I finally got my flight modes working on my radios including a landing mode. I haven’t flown my DLGs this year any due to a hernia. Hoping to have it fixed and I’ll be flying again soon.
@CR5rc7 күн бұрын
@@IllFlyIt as someone who's had a hernia operation I suggest you do the physio religiously, my core is still weak a couple years later, my doctor didn't explain it well and I didn't realize how quickly the muscle gets weak while you can't do much after the operation.

17 Ibs seems heavy for a model this size. I bought one, just haven't assembled it yet. I'm going with a Dle 35. Nice looking plane.
@IllFlyIt22 күн бұрын
Yes it’s heavy but it carries the weight well if you know what I mean. I’ve flown it in 15mph winds 30° crosswind and it handled it beautifully. I’m loving everything this plane

I really enjoyed the assembly of this model. Seagull Models did a great job. This ARF was assembled in ~20 hours and was easy. It flies fantastic and the Saito 30cc fits perfectly with minimal modifications required. More flights and videos to come! Yes, I’ll practice the landings 😉! Also, the prop is a 17x8 not an 18x8, my mistake!

While the model looks okay in the air, it appears it is operating at 55 % throttle. Some concern was expressed about overheating at the start of the video regarding this. Is this why the model seemed a bit sluggish?

Can you tell me what device you installed to get mph telemetry?
@IllFlyIt2 ай бұрын
It’s the Spektrum GPS telemetry module. The display is off of my IX14 doing a “screen recording” and it’s synced up using editing software.
@SoloCrimeWave2 ай бұрын
@IllFlyIt Must be the GPS Telemetry Sensor Spektrum - Item No.SPMA95871. I have the same remote. I was under the impression that you can only view Speed on the Smart Telemetry screen if you had GPS, Avian, or a Smart ESC. Thanks for the information.

what wheels are those?
@IllFlyIt3 ай бұрын
They’re the wheels that come with the FMS Super Cub. The ones in this video were the 1.7M wheels which are a hard foam. I’ve since switched to the smaller 1.3M Super Cub wheels that are an inflatable rubber that are much better.

I built same Herr kit with the throttled Norvel 1/2a quite a few years ago it weighed about 16-19 oz and flew really scale-like with quarter to half throttle, nice slow steady airplane. I used a very light doped-on covering. Your electric is a bunch heavier, this kit flies better on the lighter side.
@IllFlyIt6 ай бұрын
I agree! The one I built was 28oz if I remember correctly. I have a 1/2a Cub kitted by Alien Aircraft that I’ll eventually build one day. With the knowledge I gained on this one it’ll be considerably lighter weight.

How did you get audible speed reports from your transmitter?? Thx.
@IllFlyIt6 ай бұрын
I’m using the Spektrum GPS telemetry module and my transmitter is the IX14. You can have it do just about any audio output on the flip or touch of a switch. NX series aren’t able to do the audio like the IX series can because it uses google speed which is part of the Android OS on the IX14.

What OS engine are you using? What size servos and fuel tank?
@IllFlyIt7 ай бұрын
This is using an OS15. Micro sized Hitec servos and at the time of this video a 4oz tank. I’ve since switched the tank to a 2oz and get 5-8 minutes of flying before it’ll run out. Smaller tank just helps keep the weight down. It’s feather light and stalls at a walking speed.

I have the Seagull Models version of that plane. Just did the maiden earlier this summer. Quite frankly, I think it is an exact copy of the H9 plane. I believe they are all made in the same factory. Only differences seem to be some of the decals. lol I put a 20cc DLE in mine. Was pretty nervous when it first went up. However, the plane flies like a dream. Very stable, planted and responds to the sticks quite nicely. I do not have any stabilization in mine. Not only are these beautiful aircraft but, they are really good flyers. Nice job! Good video!

Thanks! I’ve been flying more and more with the gyro off. I’ve noticed that it can interfere with some maneuvers. It’s good to know there’s an alternative to this one if it ever goes in. They are head turners for sure. One of the best looking schemes I’ve ever seen on a plane.
