I keep replacing my wood I stained the first one it started to Crack then fully cracked in half went back to lowes brought another one this time I sprayed it with fire resistant spray paint first then restained it again and now it's starting to Crack again and it's been not even 3wks any suggestions?

I was a kid growing up in this area at the time Helms Creek was built. Many of my friend's family members worked on the construction for Granite-Ball-Groves, the Contractor. The platform accident was very sad for the community. Two of the men killed in the accident had been hired the same day and had absolutely no experience on this job. The father of a friend of mine was an equipment operator. They actually rigged his backhoe / excavator from a crane in the main turbine room excavation/cavern, and he would scrape and hammer the granite walls to do the final finishing. Just nuts. Given some of this things I heard about how this project was run, it is lucky that they did not kill or hurt more people.
