Great video. I'll be interested to see how these hold up. Some day I may want/need to replace our 05 Burb...or I may not! 😂

I have an 01 in the midwest, well over 300k miles on it! I love this truck, however I don't expect it to live forever. I may upgrade to an 05 later.

I have an 05 Yukon Xl with the 5.3L that I bought a year ago with only 107k miles! I put a torsion key lift about 2.5 inches with Rancho shocks all around on 33" tires. I love these trucks, and you are correct they are damn near bulletproof and probably the most reliable generation that GM built.

We picked up this exact Suboverland on July 18th! We missed you Grady 😕 Anyway, we had a blast traveling through Idaho, Montana, Wyoming eventually to Pennsylvania and are looking forward to many more adventures in our Suboverland!

I own a 2009 Yukon XL (not denali), overall very very pleased, had about 115'000 miles, gets better gas mileage than I'd hoped, previous owner kept it in top shape. My only issues are the battery dies overnight and we can't figure out why, probably a parasitic draw, I turned off dome lights and everything, still does it once in a while, the mechanic says nothing is wrong with the battery but I will change it eventually for something of higher performance. And the other thing is the fuel burning, makes a lot of smoke once in a while, I put fuel cleaner, probably that fuel management issue. Interior pretty nice, just the driver's seat needs a little repair. I removed the 2 back rows of seats to make a camper, put in a floor with a 5 inch step in the middle, it's ok, looks cute, get a lot of compliments, but the ceiling is too low on these vehicles, gets claustrophobic to sleep in. Wish I could raise the roof by a foot. Thanks for the review.

Worst interiors IMO. The dashes crack, almost the same spot in each one. The front seat leathers holds up pretty well but the hooks at the outside bottom corner comes loose and you’ll usually see the foam hanging out. Inside of the steering wheel, around the controls, there is this plasti-dip type material that flakes off. The feel overall of the panels is a cheap plastic feel versus the previous generation or the new gens. The 5.3 went to AFM and when it gets some miles on it, it’ll begin using oil. I’ve owned a few Silverados/Sierras on this platform and all used at least a qt between oil changes, although it didn’t seem to impact the reliability…one Silverado had 289k miles when I sold it.

Ive got a 98’ K2500 Suburban w/ built 6.5L Diesel bored .30 so now its a 6.6L .. Fass fuel/air separator, hx40 turbo all sorts of good stuff which ive done.. but 3.73 gears on 35’s i avg 20mpg hwy, get around 700 miles per tank of fuel if im sticking strictly hwy.. longest trip on a single tank ive done was Newport News Virginia to Jacksonville Florida on a single tank of fuel and was still able to drive around the following day before filling up again

i was offered a 8th gen 1500 for free with a bad trans, runs and drives fine with OD off, shudders when shifting into OD. no body rust, but some other minor issues (fuel gauge/sender). Think this is a good starting point, or find another?

Love our 06 GMC yukonXL 1500, #149. 2+ yrs later, no major issues. The airbag light just came on, might be a loose wire or sensor any ideas? Only thing couldn’t figure out where water is leaking to the back trunk, not the ac so it maybe when we hand opened the ceiling fan. Note to self to always close the fan with the remote so it locks down or it flaps up on the hwy. would love the option to rhino-paint this thing! I’d love to buy another! So comfy and perfect height!

This is the exact setup I’m looking to do on my 2003 Yukon XL. What torsion key set did you end up using to get the leveling right? And did you do new coils up front in addition to the bilstien 5100?

This model year uses torsion bars for front suspension. No coils used up front. Did you mean in the back?

I picked up a 99' ZR2 Blazer and replaced the G80 with an Auburn Gear elocker as soon as possible. When a G80 locks it puts all the inertia of the spinning wheel on a tiny metal catch in the diff all at once. It's designed to stop people from spinning their wheels on slippery boat ramps not for having a wheel in the air spinning. Just something to keep in mind.
