5:30 hey :) so I heard a uni lecture (titled great mythical beasts or something) about Anzu that suggested earlier on when Lagash was more powerful, Anzu was a far more benevolent/neutral figure, as he is depicted in Lugalbanda's story with the nest, whereas later on while Lagash is weak, Anzu is evil. Personally, i think this makes sense, especially when you compare lugalbanda and gilgamesh's stories to one another as father and son, which is a poignant relationship in many myths that comprise the pantheon. Lugalbanda chooses to honor a powerful beast he finds in the woods, whereas Gilgamesh chooses violence when pursued by the Bull of Heaven. The parallel goes much further in the earlier texts, bc both beasts are neutral parties to reflect the hero's character. Lugalbanda myth focuses on worship and character, compared to the far more deity/battle oriented myth from later on. In any case, I believe your mention of Lagash's downfall from Lugalzagesi is perhaps the shift in power that lecture was referring to, which lead to the Anzu bird being a negative figure which steals the Tablet of Destinies and is slain by Ninurta. The battle, which includes a magical talking mace, is one of my favorites from all the myths I've read. Thanks for helping to contextualize it all!!

Consider that the most destabilising geopolitical act possible would be to destroy the city that controlled the routes to and from the Black Sea. After the Mycenaeans conquered Troy, they left a somewhat feeble garrison that was soon overwhelmed, just as their city-states began to fall. So in essence, it's possible that the Mycenaeans destroyed and looted the very thing that was making their insulated world possible - and lacking any motive to step into the gap that they left after the war, they themselves were pushed out by invaders taking advantage of the easy passage from the north.

About the Persian satrapy Eber-Nari! According to medieval Jewish scholars the word “Hebrew” is a geographical term and comes from the word Ever which means “Across” or “Beyond”. In Hebrew language it is עבר and in Arabic it is عبر Eber-Nari means “Beyond the River (Euphrates)” and was the Persian name for greater Syria, which we call today the Levant. It means Trans-river Province. In the Book of Ezra it has the Hebrew name “Ever-Nahara”. In the early chapters of Genesis, Abraham is called a Hebrew when he’s introduced, or Ivri It means he’s a man from Eber-Nari, the Trans-river Province. This is just passages before he travels to see his family in Haran, which is usually identified as northern Syria. So the word “Hebrew” can be translated as a term for any ancient Syrian or Levantine people

You must please not argue that Schliemann might have faked objects !?? Because this implicates that some objects shown in the museums are fake !?? As you rightly say he spend a lot of his personal wealth. However dispide that did not take any objects out of Greece without the approval by Greek authorities (contrary to others). Archaeology was back then a unknown discipline and many errors where made. However he shared all the details with colleagues and anyone interested and did not make any modifications to the sites he excavated .Unlike Evans in Knossos. Which is as far as I am concerned a archaeological "Disneyland "......

Surely the same sort of thing happened to the western Roman empire after the fall of Rome and transference of the capital to the East. And perhaps for the same reasons - invasions by outsiders being one of them and these outsiders didn't have the know how to continue with the standards of the previous culture. Then there may have been other factors too like climatic changes and natural disasters.

You describe early Greek rule was done with Chieftains. Rome, too, was ruled by Kings. Then by 400 BC -- several Greek City states are Republics or Democracies. Rome is a Republic. Carthage is a Republic. WTF was going on?? Why the move towards democratic or at least oligarchic governments?? I always found it interesting that the two powers of the Mediterranean, Rome & Carthage, were both Republics. When reading about the 2nd Punic War it is humorous how both Scipio Africanus and Hannibal were subverted by their Senates. Both had to deal with political rivals back home. Both were accused of committing crimes of some kind against their states. For instance, Carthage refused aid to Hannibal in Italy. After Scipio won the honor of going to Carthage for final victory, his enemies saddled him with the shamed legions of loss at Cannae. How can that not be interesting???

The out of Africa belief assumes the consequence. The belief is that we evolved from apes and that had to be Africa so they root the tree in Africans instead of Eurasians which are the actual most original human genome which is the genome most closely related to Neanderthals, not Africans. There is only one known connection between Africans and the rest of the world. In the paternal Y chromosome haplogroup, it is the CF SNP that connects only the C paternal Y chromosome descendants with the rest of the world. The assumption is that the CF SNP was gained instead of being lost to the younger brothers and cousins of Nimrod since they are the odd ones out from the rest of the world. The same is true for the IJK SNP marker that connects the Semitic people with Eurasians. Instead of being a marker that is gained by Arphaxad that he shared with his uncle Japheth, the IJK SNP marker was lost to the younger brothers of Arphaxad. We already know who all of the ancient civilizations descended from. Every ancient civilization is the descendants of the sixteen grandsons of Noah. There are no other ancient civilizations. Denisovans are a mix of Eurasians (K-T) and the descendants of Nimrod with the C paternal haplogroup and the descendants of Sin of the Sinite or Sino Canaanite tribe having the D paternal haplogroup. Aboriginals are descended from Nimrod (C) and Tubal (K). The people of Papua New Guinea have the M and S paternal haplogroup both derived from the K.

Thess people take the care to write down their history, over and over,on what is much more permanent than paper..todays "intellectuals " conclude they are wrong and say its myth. Then at the same time when they follow the information in the "myths" they find the only concrete information they have.

This guys info is very much out of date. It seems he didn't read any research paper or book written in the past twenty years before making this video. Numerous genetic studies have proven definitively that farming came to Greece and Europe from people migrating from Anatolia and these people completely replaced the pre-Neolithic hunter-gatherers. There was no independent domestication of crops or animals. It happened in one location and was spread by migration because their crops and animals gave them a huge advantage and allowed their numbers to grow rapidly.

What struck me the most when visiting the Argolis is just how close those bronze age citadels were to each other. It gave me the feeling that those rulers would have had a lot of opportunity to meet, talk and feast together. I know the historicity of the Iliad is very much in question, but I can't help but imagine that in the war camp of the Argives, some people would have been much more familiar with eachother than the rest.
