This installation contravenes the wiring regs! class 1 and class 2 cables need to be minimum 50mm apart, not in the same hole!.

Hi Lee, It really does depend on the installation you are working on, If the installation already has 'SPD' Surge Protection in the CU, then no you're already covered no need to buy more SPDs. If there's no SPD in the CU then yes, we would advise you to put one in. Aside from fluctuations in the grid and lightning strikes SPDs help protect your installation from transient voltage. All our BG Fortress range incorporates SPDs as standard so if you were installing this with one of our garage CU's kits then you're covered again. Hope this helps!

Why are the wall chargers so complicated inside, why all the electronics while the car's BMS does the work. So much money for a simple upgraded socket!

I get your point about the complexity of wall chargers seeming unnecessary. However, the electronics inside ensure safety, prevent overheating, and enable features like remote monitoring and scheduling. While it adds to the cost, it's essential for a reliable and convenient charging experience, crucial for EV adoption. We do offer a fantastic range of mode 2 charging leads, you can use these with a regular 13amp socket. You may find they take longer to charge your vehicle but they're a good option to have.

Hi. I'm struggling with this app. I get a delayed start and can't over ride it. I then have to reset my charger a few times, then plug into the car where I get pot luck if it starts charging. I've tried the scheduled charging and got up in the morning to find that it hadn't started? Any advice would be great! Thanks Kevin

Our electrician fitted 36 of these and so far we’ve returned 15. I have another 4 that need replacing but the MK1 has been discontinued, are the Mk2 backwards compatible, as in can they been swapped out like for like with a mk1? If I have a mix of mk2 and mk1 in the same room would you notice? The whole lot need replacing ideally! Hope you’ve fixed the reliability issues! Cost me a fortune

Hi John, we would really like to here more about your case, have you reported this issue to our technical support team? 15 failures out of 36 is a concern, very uncommon. We would really appreciate it, if you got in touch with the technical support team. Or message the channel directly from the home page. I'm sure there's an explanation or a reason for so many failed downlights, but we need a bit more information to work with first before we could help you out. So many fails would normally suggest there's a problem with the installation, but without looking into your case more closely its really just guess work. Depending on the downlight and how old the installation is I would suspect you should be covered by a warranty. We have made many changes to the next generation of our Luceco FType downlights. To improve the customer's experience from beginning to end, from choosing your downlights, installation, and overall performance. If you still have the older downlights, we would like to bring them back in for testing and identify what went wrong. It's unfortunate to get two bad lights in one go like that. It could be a defect with the lights or even something to do with the installation wiring. Email our technical support team directly, and we will try to help you out. Great, except the LED fails in less than a year of normal use. I was lucky and got it replaced by Screwfix free of charge, but others have also had the same problem and out of warranty.

Hi there indyannabones. 'No' certainly not during the configuration commissioning stage of the job the charger will be set up with the ev,energy app on your phone or smart device. From the app you will be able to set your preferences for charging to include scheduled charging as well as charger locks. Keeping you fully in charge of who and when uses the charger.

Hi Chris, BG Electrical Consummer Units are designed and engineered in the UK, with the support of our installer community. That's people just like you, who talk to us about the products, how we can make them better and what you would like to see in future updates. Manufacturing of that product happens at our own factory in China, unlike many of our competitors who have to manufacture through 3rd Parties in China. This way we're able to continue developing our CU's while keeping costs down.

Unfortunately there's no reports of this being an issue at present.
