I wish they had more of these radio shows. I was born in 79 but always had a fascination with the underground 60s radio/music

Radio here has always sucked we have one semi-good station and it is in my hometown it is Greatest Hits Z101. I am surprised this little town is big enough to support a station like this. And the owner has been in radio all his life. His dad used to own the radio station.

As a teenager even I took the radio for granted and listened to CDs more. I recently thoiught of a time back in 2002-2003 when I was at my uncle’s with my mom and it was just me and my mom in the house and I got to thinking “why didn’t I think of that?!” Turning on the radion

I believe Adam’a theory is right. Especially those on the autism spectrum like myself. Same would also goes for the news. The anchors are talking directly to you and looking directly at you. That is why I wanted to be a news anchor.

Adam blocked me from his Facebook page a few years ago after he posted how excited he was about the pir channel coming to Pluto and he made a joke about Pfizer taking their sweet time with the vaccine and I had the nerve to remind him that a vaccine was more important and he blocked me to shut me up. I can circumvent it via my phone though.

PSA Ron Beaton is a child predator. I’m not the only female family member he has preyed on either. When I was 5 he propositioned me using his now deceased son Sean by saying “Sean, offer Molly $5 to take off her dress.” I’ll NEVER forget it. Thankfully my dad walked into the room at that moment and I ran to him and hid behind his legs. I didn’t know if I could even REPEAT what he had said but his behavior is why my father raised us in Monterey running KNRY. We were down visiting my grandfather for the holidays. Thank GOD my father Bill was a GOOD man unlike Ron the P E D O P H I L E!

@@jwgreek8606 Based on the game show FAQ book, Finn was a finalist along with Rolf and some sportscaster (can't remember his name, but he does CFB for Fox now) for Daytime WOF after Pat left. NBC wanted the sportscaster from what i've read, but Merv wanted Rolf, and that's what NBC got.

Dennis James' syndicated episodes of Price is Right never aired in reruns on GSN or Pluto in part because of the Bob Barker fur ban, and furs were in a lot of 70s episodes. PDQ in the mid-late 60s was syndicated and the tapes are said to exist.

That story about Bill Cullen and Elizabeth Ashley is interesting. My grandmother was watching Price that day and saw it live. Anyway, as you mentioned Adam, in the era of live commercials, Ashley was "The Chiffon Light Gelatin Pudding and Pie Girl," dancing in a tutu among a number of pies that had been topped with whipped cream. Ashley lost her footing and accidentally flung one of the pies into Bill's chest and my grandmom was laughing so hard while Bill was trying to keep a straight face as well as Don Pardo.

There was another time when the contestants for one show were offered a live circus elephant. The elephant was brought onstage, and to the shock of Bill, the contestants, the staff, and the audience at home & in the theater, the elephant defecated on a coast-to-coast television broadcast. Everybody cracked up at the sight, but Bill straightened himself out after allowing himself a laugh, and remained in total control of the stage. He looked into the camera calmly, waited for the audience howls to die down, and then deadpanned, "Be sure to join us next week when The Price is Right offers equal time to the Democratic party." My grandmom was laughing at that one too.

This one didn't inlove a live commercial, but 20 years later, me and my grandmom were watching $ale of the Century which had Pep Rally Week, where college students play for prizes and a Jeep. Along comes the second In$tant Bargain, and Lakita is in the lead by $1. The IB offers her a trip to a dude ranch. With a dude ranch, the obvious prop is a horse. However, a horse won't fit in the studio, so they dressed up two models in a horse costume. Halfway through Summer's description of the trip, the horse makes the attempt to buck. The costume for the front legs comes off, and Summer is trying ever so hard to keep a straight face while me and grandmom were laughing so hard. Then Jim Perry came out and said that "It's not a real horse" and that stopped it. Grandmom later told me that "that's the hardest I've laughed since Elizabeth Ashley lost her balance during a live commercial on The Price Is Right and flung one of the pies into Bill Cullen!"

The 1950s hosts or announcers or sometimes the model did live ads a lot, Bud Collyer did them on his shows, so did Jan Murray, because i remember my grandmom watching "Treasure Hunt" and he or guest host Bob Kennedy or announcer Tom Reddy or Bill Wendell or Bob Williams or Carl King or the "Pirate Girl" Greta Thyssen would do them. Bill Leyden on It Could Be You did them or announcer Wendell Niles too. Johnny Carson did live ads on his quiz show too or Ed McMahon sometimes did them. On Dough Rei Mi, Gene Rayburn or announcer Roger Tuttle would do it, and on Concentration, Hugh Downs or Bob Clayton or Wayne Howell or Art James did that too. When the networks took ownership and control of the programs, the hosts and program announcers started to deliver the live spots. I remember my grandmom seeing these hosts and announcers deliver live spots. Did Jack Barry do live ads on TTD or 21?

Josh, do you listen to the media path podcast with Louise Palanker and Fritz Coleman? Did you know Fritz auditioned to host Wheel? and he was set to take over for Bill Cullen on Hot Potato until his boss said no? Because they were afraid they would lose him to game shows like they lost Pat?
