They really designed this game to consume your entire life. I got into this game and tried to tweak the settings as much as possible to make it a casual fun role playing experience and bought all these cool DLC's and I can't even use the DLCs because I'm a father of 3 and a business owner and I can't dedicate several hours of my day to a game. Not to mention I'm on console so I can't even use mods to make it more casual and fun. At least on Civ you can tweak settings to make it a fast pace game that's completely impossible in Stellaris console edition. Yeah I could play a few hours a day on the same save for weeks but I'll lose interest by day 3 because I'll forget my overall goals and lose the immersion. Dear paradox not everyone lives in their parents basement.

Clerks are not as terrible as they are made out to be, if you need massive energy production and are very limited on how many planets you can get with enough max districts and generator districts to make a lot of energy a good fix is making some trade worlds especially making a trade ring world

Are these builds still viable for 3.10? Seems like you can't salvage your own ships at the beginning anymore for example.

This game kinda sucks. The war mechanism is extremely poorly explained. Enemy has 100 % war exhaustion and one planet yet they still refuse to surrended even if I landed my armies as fucked them up? Ok. Mongoloid game.

I tried Hivemind + Necrophage as Necroids. With Catalytic Processing and Autonomous Drones. Basically abducting Pre FTLs and enslaving pops as Livestock for that Food prod boost. Ending up with more minerals than I know what to do with but it's great to only pump them into Alloys and research. Enjoying it so far. Also playing 3.10 in 2024, for about 4 weeks. Stellaris scratches an itch I didn't know I had. Great vid man! Would love to catch a stream sometime :)

Decided to attack the only empire in my galaxy that’s stronger than me, they’ve vassalized like half the galaxy so it’s pretty much a 3 front war 💀

If you read the starting text if you use the default origin, their backstory is basically Man in the High Castle. I once created a more understandable empire like this (of course, with cute little peafowl as the sick, bloodthirsty Master Race[TM]) with the Remnants origin. Basically, they used to be a xenophile interstellar empire with at least 2 ecumenopoli at the center. Something happened, and we were literally bombed to the stone age by the nauseating, abominable, contemptible, loathsome, revolting, despicable, heinous, wretched, vile, foul, reprehensible and misbegotten xenos. As soon as they reached the Renaissance Age, they realized that the ecumenopolis their ball of junk used to be would be impossible to make without interstellar infrastructure, immigration from other races lost to time, and outsourcing of power, food and raw material extraction to other planets- and then they instantly shot up to “high awareness” as it hit them: The galaxy is full of life- depraved, cruel life that had taken everything from them and caused not millions, not even billions but *trillions* of their glorious species to die. This, along with the fact that all the actual history was either lost or rewritten, enabled a rabidly-xenophobic royal dynasty to rise to power, promising to not only take back what was once theirs since time immemorial but also disseminate a “final solution to the xeno question”. The purpose of such evil would be twofold: A) to guarantee that the whole galaxy would be solely theirs until xenos evolve again only eons after their own race’s inevitable extinction, and B) as a sick game to distract the masses from this monarchy’s oppressive rule over its own people.

fun fact: now that we have galactic paragons that made our leaders far more important id put trancendant learning at the very least in a tier, because it is actually really fricking good now.

I have shattered ring origin, 5 star-fortresses, 8 other starbases, ruined strategic coordination center within my borders, a void craft head of science with 35% chance to get a voidcraft tech, I have had citadel, battleships, and zero point power technologies for 35 years. I have been pumping out engineering techs. Still nothing. This is why (after 500 games of stellaris) I have never built a dyson sphere, matter decompressor or ring world. Games are over by the time I might see the tech.

I know that I'm watching this video one year later but I hope maybe this reaches you. You mentioned in this video that you think stellaris is at a good point for new players but I'm not so sure about that: I only have like a dozen hours in the game and I love it but I had a friend explain everything to me every step of the way (and he has like 1200h in the game), without him I wouldnt have enjoyed it one bit, I think the tutorial sucks a bit too much for new players to understand what the fuck is going on and how to handle the situations. For example the whole resettling and micromanaging of the pops is not explained at all, I think. And the techs are absolutely incomprehensible unless you really know where they lead cause sometimes it's just "telepathy" and I go "the fuck does it do? Idk I guess it sounds cool". Also the vanilla ui is freaking terrifying but that's a easy fix. So yeah I think that if they get a better tutorial or maybe even link a tutorial series on youtube in the main menu it would be so much better. Another very hard thing to understand is how to pick civics and traits at the beginning of the game so your only option is to get one of the premade empires but thats not nearly as good as making your own.

Mega Engineering is considered Voidcraft right? I use a mod that allows me to fucus on specific sub catagories within Physics, Society, and Engineering, but i'm not actually 100% sure which of these catagories contain mega Engineering.
