When I drive my 2023 ridgeline and hit the (-) shifter it downshifts to like 3 or 4th gear really whining the motor instead of dropping 1 or 2 gears it jumps alot gears.
@NightHawkMotors2 ай бұрын
The 2023 ridgeline has a different type of transmission entirely. 9 speed automatic.
@milepost48462 ай бұрын
This is totally new to me. So there is NO pushing a clutch in to change the gear? No chance of stalling the engine out of letting off the clutch too soon? Sorry to sound ignorant here, but again, this is all new to me and I am looking at the newer Accords right now.
@NightHawkMotors2 ай бұрын
The CVT is a belt driven transmission like a snowmobile or side by side. The computer controls the clutch engagement and the pulley ratios. Then these transmissions have programming and paddle shifters that allows you to have simulated (gears) by holding specific predetermined pulley ratios.

Our Mitsubishi Outlander has this. I just feel like brake pads are alot less expensive to replace than a CVT transmission so other than slowing down without using the brakes I'm not sure I see any other reason to use manual mode. I guess it can be fun if you're bored like he said in the video. Seems to me like it's a good way to mess up your transmission.
@NightHawkMotors3 ай бұрын
The transmission will go through these same motions when accelerating or decelerating. Keeping the fluid changed is a much bigger deal than using these features.

I pretty much have the same car (16 Accord Touring V6 sedan) and it came with the Cont Sports as well and I’ve been using these (Sumis) since my TL before the Accord and every time the road noise starts to creep up. I feel like it starts around 3k-5k miles. Have you noticed this as well? It’s time for me to get new ones and these have gone up a lot. I paid 515 for these a couple years ago and now imma have to shell out closer to $850. I might the get the Hankooks since they are pretty close in price. Big fan of these tires. No issues except for the noise 🤔
@NightHawkMotors4 ай бұрын
Honestly the noise was there when new but went away after they broke in. Maybe a wheel bearing? I had a 2006 tl with bad wheel bearings that were noisy.
@rubenfabela92854 ай бұрын
@@NightHawkMotors I think it’s probably just a side effect from how they’re made. The bearings on the TL maybe but my Accord has just under 60k miles on it and I put these on at or around 37k miles in late 2021.

I don't agree with this video at all. I have 2 Honda accords. Same engine one is a 6 speed manual and the other is automatic. My six speed manual has more torque than the automatic and it's pretty fast for a four door family sedan. These cars are incredibly reliable. Everything you are complaining about is not that big. A deal. if you want a car that drives like it cost a $100000. Then you should have bought a hundred thousand dollar car. For the price of these cars they are excellent reliable vehicles.
