"11 -12" tracks? Dude if im not getting at least 13-15 tracks Im feeling like Im getting ripped off and that's before the deluxe edition. Then again I listen to more hard rock/Light metal (Skillet Three Days Grace Korn RED Disciple etc) so songs typically arent as long but if im getting an album I can listen through TWICE in my HS class its too short of an album in my opinion (my HS classes were 75 minutes long.)

It's difficult to rank these albums imo because they're all so good!! If I had to, my ranking would be at least a little bit similar to yours. From last to first: Kodama, Shelter, Ecailles de lune, Spiritual Instinct, Les Voyages de l'âme, Souvenirs d'une autre monde. Not really sure yet where to put the newest one, probably somewhere in Top 3.

Been a casual fan for years and last November I went down the rabbit hole and haven't stopped listening to them for months. One of the things I've noticed is I don't love the way they sequence the songs on their records. I know that sounds crazy but I was making a top ten list one day, and I swear half the songs were from Dead End Kings, so one day I put the record on and it just... doesn't flow? (Plus a couple of the songs are just rough). I wound up making my own playlist. If you haven't, check out the version of Teargas from Sanctitude, it beats the album version by a mile.

This is gonna be a very controversial opinion, but the Tony Martin era of the band is honestly in my opinion the best era of the band it’s just the albums are so much more solid. There’s so much more darker and Tony Martin is just a better vocalist and a better songwriter, and he really tried to assert a new identity for the band and I’m gonna come right out and say it I know that the album forbidden is everybody’s least favorite album but me personally I like it. I think it solid. There’s some songs on there that are kind of questionable but other than that, I think it’s a pretty solid record, I really like the song illusion of power. It has a kick ass riff and I think the lyrics are very well written just all and all I think the album just has some really groovy heavy songs. But hands-down I think the best album in the Tony Martin era is hands-down headless cross that album is a fucking masterpiece. I don’t care what anyone says. I think it’s one of the greatest Black Sabbath albums ever made. Yes so much better than any album from the Ozzy and Dio era. It’s just so much more of a heavier darker album and it’s honestly in my opinion, very similar to heaven and hell which I like about the record because as much as I love heaven and Hell don’t get me wrong but headless cross was just on a whole other level. So yeah Tony Martin, hands-down my favorite incarnation of the band I mean the guy is just spectacular and criminally underrated and under mentioned and underappreciated. But I’m glad he’s now starting to get more recognition with this new box set that came out that features remastered versions of the albums he was on. And another controversial opinion and I know you’re not going to agree but I like born again. I think it’s a solid record. I know that the mixing and everything on the album is questionable but it’s metal dude grow a dick. I know it sounds like it was recorded in someone’s garage but whatever dude it’s metal. But let me ask you this if born again is not a good album then why the fuck did Guns N’ Roses rip it the fuck off I mean it had to have been that good enough in order for Guns N’ Roses to rip it off. Most of the songs on appetite for destruction sounds similar to the songs on this record. It sounds like the members from Guns N’ Roses were heavily influenced by this record so for you to say it sucks it’s not good then why the hell did Guns N’ Roses rip it the fuck off? So yeah I mean I think born again is a good album. I think that you’re just being picky and bitchy just because of the production and Ian Gillen, I mean, I really don’t know why people have a problem with his vocals. I mean, if you don’t get it then you don’t get it but I think he sounds fine.

Bro, what do you mean victim and changes is not a masterpiece why do you think it’s a classic Judas Priest song? I mean the reason why it’s a classic because it’s one of the toughest songs to sing this song just demonstrates what Rob Halford was capable of vocally with the high falsettos. And it’s got a great groove to it and a great riff. I mean this song is heavy metal at its finest.

There's no point in being born in the 80s leads to loving another type of musical style. not that blind guardians don't know how to use orchestrations but in recent years their creative streak has faded, I can't stand Nightfall in Middle Earth, let alone post-2000 productions. Twist in the Myth is unlistenable, pompous and redundant, not to mention Beyond the red mirror where the creative streak has been replaced by an excessive use of an orchestra. for me the 80s and 90s were the golden years of the Band with a sensational wall of sound My rank 1. Somewhere far Beyond 2. Tales from the Twilight world 3. Immagination from the other side 4. Follow the Blind 5. Battaleos of fear 6. Nightfall in The middle Earth 7. The God machine 8. A Night at the opera 9. At the edge of time 10. A twist in the myth 11. ( holy shit) Beyond the red Mirror the bards created deadly riffs at the beginning of their career, an incredible wall of sound which over time was dampened by the use of orchestrations, I repeat I like symphonic metal but I think the Bards gave their best with more compositions dry and speed metal than with Baufeld and his biteless productions and then Tome turns out to be the only true drummer of Blind Guardian with all due respect to Frederik

I'm catholic. I've been a metalhead since I was 12. I think the anti-religion message in metal music is more about the religious institution, its corruption, than God itself. Many of these musicians are Christians too, even Alice Cooper. Black metal is another story, although I love some black metal too, I like the music, I read the lyrics but they won't change my way of thinking and my faith

I struggle with the whole "can christians listen to metal" question too. Ive liked metal ever since I was a little kid but as im growing into my faith something bothers me when I listen to it tbh. I would personally avoid black metal just because of the frequent usage of satanic imagery because I think that all that imagery is wrong and contradicts our beliefs.

I personally like the Dance of December souls because I enjoy that style of metal a lot, but as a christian metal enjoyer myself, I found it difficult to listen to much of it. I’m still stuck on Anti-Christian lyrics because I go back and forth on thinking, “will this influence me negatively?”. “Am I contributing to artists that seek the persecution of me and my family?” kinda thoughts. Still good from what I’ve heard. Of course, their discography other than that is great!

I'm not saying that "Dance of December Souls" is their best technically or objectively but I like the production, the uglyness, the depressive weight and epicness and the riffs and guitar stuff is so great. The vocals are genius with alot of delay and atmosphere :)

marrow of the spirit is the best for 3 reasons in my book, it is recorded on analogue equipment which they purposefully went for after ashes against the grain which was too clean sounding, it has the deepest lyrics they ever put out, the mantle gets close and pale folklore also gets very very serious sometimes (naming my number 2 and 3) and it has all their collective spice in it, i mean the way that "they escaped the weight of darkness" with its violin und running water fades into a barrage of drums at the start of "into the painted grey", the way they carry that song with one of the most pagan sets of lyrics they wrote (well that whole album is the pinacle of their pagan ideas in songwriting) and its progressions, the way it breaks open on the line "how long shall we suffer here ?", then the watchers monolith which is just an amazing piece connected to and inspired by a site i know, "black lake nidstang" which is monumental and so deep in its meaning and then easing out with "ghosts of the midwinter forest".... that album is among my top 5 of all time. i can even sense influences from pink floyd somewhere in there. As for Agalloch in a genre... well doesnt quite work, its definitely not straight up black metal, they call it dark metal and it encompases styles from post rock to doom metal, black metal, gothic/funeral doom metal, folk metal and everything in between.

Cool list. Here is mine. I love most of these albums. The top ten range from flawless to nearly flawless. 1. Screaming for Vengeance- This album was my introduction to the band. Nothing has ever topped it. 2. Stained Class- This is a close second. 3. Sad Wings of Destiny 4. Sin After Sin 5. British Steel 6. Invincible Shield - Easily my favorite of the reunion era. 7. Hell Bent for Leather/ Killing Machine 8. Defenders of the Faith 9. Painkiller 10. Angel of Retribution 11. Nostradamus- I enjoy this album more than most. It works for me. 12. Point of Entry- If the last four tracks were on the level of the first six, this album would rank higher. 13. Firepower 14. Turbo 15. Rocka Rolla 16. Redeemer of Souls 17. Demolition- It may only be two spots higher, but I like this one much more than Jugulator. 18. Ram it Down- I only enjoy three or four songs. Blood Red Skies is my favorite. 19. Jugulator
