sooo, i found out something interesting when i got into mtg during high school. i bought some packs from my lgs, they were aether revolt packs and the cards between the two packs looked completely different. when i compared two of the same cards, the printing dots looked different, the cards felt different, the backs were different, and i thought they were fake. WotC prints EU english cards in belgium, while the other english cards are printed in the US. a lot of the time MTG suppliers get product from all over the place, and the only real way to tell where a card is printed is to look at the back of the booster pack and check the wrapper. the light test you did at the end of the video sparked some major memories for me, the pattern on both cards matched exactly what i remember when trying to spot a fake, there's a good chance theyre both real and printed in different countries. im curious if the ebay seller was listed somewhere in europe?

Doesn’t mean it’s a fake, people forget about misprints. I’ve seen all kinds of misprints. Even the errors shown in this video. Miscoloration is a very common one.

I don't think it's fake at all. One was 2014 and the other was 2019 prints. Got to remember the 2019-2021 prints weren't the best prints they had and they had alot of complaints about guality

@@DismalDante I’m not looking for a follow up video. If you question authenticity, go right ahead. In this video you have no proof and put the sellers name. The proof needs to be in this video. Or don’t put the seller’s name until you make the proof video, then put the seller’s name. Not everyone is going to see a follow up video. I certainly am not.
@DismalDanteАй бұрын
@@Rorschachqp There is plenty of evidence the card is fake in this video without a follow up video. The seller admitted it was fake given that evidence. Case closed

I just learned that the bottom of the T on "The Gathering" is the fool-proof way to tell. If it's a solid tooth pathern, it's likely not fake. If it's not solid, it is def fake.

Listing was NM but there was a massive dent in the upper right corner :T, not that it matters now but an additional scum since they can feign it happened in shipping or you did it.

while a seller selling 1 fake card could just happen. it's not really a legit test to test 1 card from a nonstandard set to a standard block set. the printing is always a bit different on the master/commander sets. light test is always suspect. and needs to be done on two identical cards to be any way reliable. Would also say. if you do the weight, or UV reflective test. should also be done on identical cards. OR at the very least the same set. the rosette lining on the black layer is the most suspect. legit mtg cards have a sep black printed layer as one of the final color layers. why all the blacks should be solid black with no rosettes and clear lines. can also use the jeweler loop to look at the rag layer inbetween the cards. most of the higher qual chinese fakes use a black rag layer. where as wotc cards are purple. if you think it's counterfeit just issue a refund with ebay. if ebay blinks call your CC processor have the charge reversed. the greater stupidity is the nature of small bits of cardboard only having value because one company has a predatory gamble pack secondary market system to inflate the value of them.

overall conclusion fake cards are legit... xd better centering on average, higher restiance to humidity ... xD liek im really trying to find anything that would argue for the original cards but other then their unmatched nice feel when played idc xD then on the other hand you wouldnt play them unsleeved anyways XD
@alexandersalz58502 ай бұрын
they never got to copy the stickyness of the real cards btw :) the fake onces feel rough and dull and slide like crazy when on top of each other. reminded me of a new average quality poker set haha also the light reflects duller making it look white on camera. then all corners and edges are bend wrong theyre not that even on the real one :DD u could argue the fake ones are more durable and water resistant XDDDD funniest thing that they startet to offcenter the real cards to make perfectly centered once stand out and easier to detect from the real badly centered cards XDDDD

I bought a foil playset of this very card not long ago. 1 of them looked off a bit. I suspected it might be a counterfeit but I'm not an expert. I figured I paid real price for it so im gunna play it like it's a real card. Not sure what else to do. I don't think returning it is an option at this point.
