Somehow I missed the 1969 U.S. part two video when you posted it. I'm glad I found it! I've always known there were a ton of good records other than the handful I heard over and over that year. Thanks for highlighting them, and adding to my knowledge and collection of '69 tunes. As "California Dreamin'" is one of my most favorite records ever, I was very excited to --- FINALLY -- hear a cover that does the song justice. So, thanks to Bobby Womack, too.
I'm completely stunned to see Robin Gibb on this list with Boys Do Fall In Love. He's one of my favorite singers. It surprises me because when he did three of his solo albums during the 80s, they were not popular at all in the US for some reason.

I was in 9th Grade and helped DJ Dan Bushman load in and out his gear during weekly dances at the Shangala Activity Center in Appleton, Wisconsin. I recall how heavy his equipment was and how many crates of 45’s and albums he had. I got ‘paid’ in records and one time scored a radio station promo cut out copy of The Eagles Hotel California. I sold it to my 9th grade crush, Vicki Kohlman for four bucks. lol I wonder what she is doing now….

I was 17 and between my Junior and Senior year. I began my lifetime love of music in ‘76 when I DJ’d my 7th and 8th grade dances. We had the speakers on volleyball poles and there was a noticeable gap in the music as we had only one turntable. I I helped local DJ Dan Bushman at our local Shangrala Activities Center on Saturday nights in 9th grade in Appleton, Wisconsin by loading his gear in and out. I got ‘paid’ by albums lol. This is when he made $50 for a 3 hour gig, I remember he gave me a radio station promotional cut out album of Hotel California that I sold to a friend, Vicki Kohlman for four bucks. I moved to Nevada in ‘78 and through mutual friend met Randy Swanson who was the DJ at Harrah’s Lake Tahoe. He encouraged me to start my own mobile music business. Twenty year old me saved up and started Sounds Good/Rockit Productions complete with those huge Peavey amps and speakers. Thirty five years and over 1,200 weddings, fundraisers and special events later I hung up the headphones. I became a Stage Hypnotist and my show HYPNOT!C had a 3 year run in Reno. Thanks for letting a 61 year old man ramble and reminisce.

Was that Tane Cain singing back up for the Babys? If so, she married Babys keyboardist Jonathan Cain who later played with Journey. I saw Tane open for Eddie Money on his Shakin’ tour. She is reminiscent of Pat Benatar or her idol Grace Slick. SIDENOTE: Her father is Doug McClure.

Incorrect Whitesnake song in 1987. It was "Here I Go Again" that was at #4. "Is This Love" was toward the end of 1987.

I had no idea how much residual 70esque garbage was still charting in 1982. Nobody told Player that you can't front a rock band if you have a skullet any more. I wonder how much payola was spent to get Leif Garrett and the Alessi Brothers in the lower tier of the Billboard Hot 100.

Altered Images was a British band. Between 1981 and 1983 they had 9 hits in the UK, 6 top 40 and 3 of them in the top 10. Including one that was number 1 on some British charts such as Melody Maker and NME. The band has since been inactive until 2022.
