I don't know why you'd say that was controversy, defense fully pushes the offense with both hands. He did potentially have a legit play on the disc, that's a foul every time.

I have to say I didn't like to see how Canada's offense played (especially in the second half). They had so many open passes to FMPs they just didn't take. Some points they only played with their MMPs and didn't even look elsewhere. They could have exploited their poaches so much more... USA did a much better job on that and definitely deserved to win the game if only for playing better Mixed. Another note is that Canada kind of threw away the game against the USA zone in the early stages. They should have been more patient and swung the disc more which they did well until they tried to take a more difficult pass forward.

At WUCC Colombias fast paced offense was also totally reliant on travels. Not that every movement was a travel, but enough that their continued motion offense was dependent on them not being called. Was this still how they moved in TEP?
@IamMaxC
@IamMaxC 8 күн бұрын
I didn't see any egregious traveling and I think most of the offensive clips here would reinforce that.
@squidge903
@squidge903 8 күн бұрын
@IamMaxC I just rewatched this with an eye to looking for travels specifically. I don't see much in the way of 'loose pivots' like we see so much in US high level (think Joe White any time he fakes or shifts weight - pivot moving a couple of inches). Their pivots, once established, are generally quite solid (or solid enough to not be called.) But, especially from the Cardenas sisters in the first clips, they're pretty loose in establishing their pivots, instead prioritizing their positioning over not traveling. Watch Valeria at 1:40 - her last two steps actually take her further into the space. A clear example is also Manu (I think?) at 2:00 - she hops right at the end to move her pivot slight further up field but more importantly shift her her hips facing infield, so she can make the quick throw back laterally. The do this sort of 'lazy' /liberal pivot establishment, often turning upfield/infield in the guise of hopping or stepping of their established pivot, and they gain a lot in effectiveness of their motion offense. I don't even know if it's always a travel (thinking about it - I'm not 100 sure if Manu's above is), but many of them are, and I think they're quite dependent on it not getting called to keep them in flow.

@@squidge903 I dont think your examples are very strong proof that their fast paced offense was totally reliant on travels. Seems like the usual unconscious travels you'd see from any player from any team to be perfectly honest. The way singapore plays seems like a much better example of an offense excessively relying on travels.
@squidge903
@squidge903 7 күн бұрын
@@Javier-ss7jg I don't think they're conscious - I wouldn't say the Colombian players are deliberately choosing to play significantly loose in how they establish their pivot. I do, however, think those types of movements are so prevalent in their game style that it's is reliant on it and therefore opponents not calling it (which only just reinforces its occurance). It's less obvious in a short breakdown like this, but seemed prevalent in their games at WUCC 2022.

When you put trash talking/taunting and arrogance first, you lose. I understand the competitiveness we put on the sport but it is sad to see how the "spirit of the game" is lost with this kind of actions. I guess it is different here on this kind of competition and country. IDK? What a great game shown by Browns though

WFDF annotation say this: 8.2 Disc hits the ground (8.1.4) Extra: After a pull or a turnover where the disc hits the ground in-bounds, if the offence attempts to pick up the disc in-bounds, but fails to pick it up and the disc drops to the ground, that is not a new turnover, unless the offence had full control of the disc prior to accidentally dropping the disc. For me is about "offence had full control". In this case I would go with benefits of doubt here.
