This is a simple case.Ghana is now a Republic.and Asantes like Akyems,GaAdangbes,Fantes,Dagombas,Ewes,Brongs etc are all integral part of the Republic.Asantehene was a king ruling his kingdom in the pre-independence days but the role of Asantehene today like other tribal leaders is only ceremonial.All the powers are vested in the President .

I don’t know much about this man but the more I listen to him , the more I come to the conclusion that , he easily convince himself easily. First of all he talks about the king not being a king because he doesn’t have his own governing state, that he doesn’t have his own judiciary, parliament and so on so forth. Well, let’s use his own lectures to remind him that the title king wasn’t given to him in 1957 or after Gold Coast or modern day ghana. He told us that the Ashanti kingdom once stretched from benin state to the ivory coast. This kingdom has its own judicial systems, police, remember ahenfie police? Yes before the Europeans cane the kingdom has its own centralized government… defense, foreign ministry, trade, you name it it was established. So what do you call such a ruler if by your definition/description he had all that? Sir, the title king was given to him not yesterday nor post independence but rather in the 1400s or so when it was a state in its own before it joined the modern day Ghana. Thank you very much
